He Began Working for the Gosselins After Their Show’s Success

Neild started working for Jon and Kate-Gosselin">Kate Gosselin after their reality show Jon and Kate Plus 8 achieved considerable success on TLC. Neild continued his employment with Kate even after she and Jon divorced in 2009.

Rumors of an affair between Kate and Neild emerged during her and Jon’s divorce proceedings in 2009. According to NBC Washington, Kate refuted these claims in 2009.

“The next story coming from those who relentlessly pursue us is about our security guard and his family,” she stated in an interview with People at the time, referring to Neild. “The accusations they’re making about me are already appalling, unthinkable, and I am deeply disturbed.”

Neild was married to his former wife, Gina Neild, from September 1990 until their divorce in September 2023. The couple share two children, Kristopher and Michael. His divorce filing, obtained by Us, indicated a marriage date of September 22, 1990, and noted they were wed in a ceremony in Auckland, New Zealand.

Kate also disclosed she was in a relationship during a September 2023 TikTok Q&A. When asked about dating, Kate responded, “The answer to that question is actually, finally, yes. I’ve been in a relationship for roughly a year to a little over a year, perhaps 14 or 15 months.”

She added, “I am incredibly happy. It’s someone I’ve known for a long time, and I am very, very content.”

Kate also informed fans that they shouldn’t anticipate seeing much of Neild on social media. As she put it, “He doesn’t particularly want to be on TikToks. I can’t really blame him, but you might occasionally spot him here and there or from time to time going forward.”

Jon Implied Kate Was Unfaithful After the Relationship Reveal

Despite preparing for his own wedding at the time (Jon married Stephanie Lebo in November 2025), Jon posted a screenshot of the Page Six article confirming Kate and Steve’s relationship shortly after the announcement and captioned it, “Guess who really ruined the marriage.”

The pair’s son, Collin, who is estranged from his mother, also posted on social media, “What truly upsets me is that my mom had an affair with our bodyguard years ago in 2009 and for years would share hotel rooms with him while we went on family vacations, while I was in an adjacent room! Now everyone thinks her being with him is some charming romantic story. By the way, my dad received threats and was ostracized by the public for years for ‘having an affair’ and ‘abandoning his children.’”

Jon reiterated this claim in an interview with The Sun published in October 2025.

“I’m certain it’s her bodyguard Steve, without a doubt. He’s consistently been present in her life,” he said. “I’m not particularly upset that she’s with someone… I’m more concerned about when this began because I’ve been aware, for quite some time, at least 17 years, that they’ve been intimate or together. It’s clearly been longer than a year. I know for a fact. I do have children and maintain a relationship with my children. They tell me things.”

Jon also stated, “I was labeled a cheater by TLC and Kate for 17 years. Our divorce didn’t conclude because I was unfaithful. Our divorce ended because I discovered she was involved with Steve.”
