Kathy Hilton Recounts Terrifying Home Invasion and Husband Rick's Brave Stand

Kathy Hilton is sharing details regarding the alarming home invasion she experienced recently.

“Intruders gained entry by smashing a window during a rain shower, while our security personnel was occupied at the guest house,” the 66-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills personality recounted to Extra during The Hollywood Reporter’s 2025 Women in Entertainment Gala on Wednesday, December 3.

Kathy disclosed that her husband, Rick Hilton, who was present during the break-in, heard the shattering glass and “retrieved a shotgun.” As three individuals forced their way into their master bedroom, the 70-year-old Rick confronted them, stating, “Leave immediately. Law enforcement has been notified and is en route,” Kathy recounted.

The television personality further explained, “Subsequently, our security guard arrived, they confronted each other, the intruders fled, and then [Rick] discharged the firearm into the air from his office.”

Kathy, who was at BravoCon 2025 in Las Vegas during the incident, mentioned that her and Rick’s residence has maintained heightened security measures since the event.

“Even the slightest contact … Carol entered today, and the entire alarm system activated,” she stated.

Kathy also mentioned that Rick is feeling “fine” following the ordeal.

Kathy and Rick’s property was invaded on the evening of November 15, according to a contemporary report by TMZ. Nevertheless, it remains uncertain whether any items were stolen during the break-in.

Earlier that same day, the residence of another RHOBH cast member, Sutton Stracke, was also subjected to a burglary. Stracke’s dog walker contacted emergency services at approximately 11:54 a.m. on November 15 to report an open window, as per documents acquired by Us Weekly. Law enforcement officers attended the location and documented the incident.

“On the morning of Saturday, November 15, the Los Angeles Police Department informed me that my home had been broken into earlier that day. My valuable jewelry was also taken,” the 54-year-old Stracke stated to Us. “Since then, I have employed a round-the-clock armed security detail and upgraded the current surveillance equipment at my property. Kathy and Rick, parents to Paris and Nicky Hilton, first commented publicly on the break-in at their residence during an interaction with paparazzi at LAX airport on November 21, as reported by the Daily Mail.

“When the intruders reached the house, it was raining. Our security personnel was investigating a leak,” Kathy recounted. “Consequently, he approached, they encountered each other, and the intruders fled.”

Rick also mentioned that “law enforcement is actively managing” the inquiry into the event.

The intrusions at the residences of the Hiltons and Stracke follow several months after former RHOBH cast member Teddi Mellencamp disclosed that her house, shared with estranged husband Edwin Arroyave, had been the focus of attempted burglars.
