Katy Perry appears to have addressed ongoing speculation about her relationship with Justin Trudeau through a playful remark made during a recent London performance.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd at the O2 Arena on Monday, October 13, Perry, 40, exclaimed, “London, England, you're this energized on a Monday evening, after a full day of work and school?” as reported by The Sun. She then quipped, “It's no surprise I always end up falling for Englishmen … but that's a thing of the past.”
This comment seemed to allude to her previous separation from British actor Orlando Bloom.
The former couple, parents to 5-year-old Daisy Dove, ended their engagement in June following almost a decade-long relationship. (Perry had also been wed to British actor and comedian Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012.)
The “Firework” hitmaker has now reportedly turned her romantic attention towards a Canadian.
Photos released by the Daily Mail showed Perry affectionately embracing and kissing former Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau, 53, on her Caravelle yacht near Santa Barbara, California, on Saturday, October 11.

This intimate scene followed earlier reports of the two igniting dating whispers with a stroll through Montreal’s Mount Royal Park and a dinner outing back in July.
Just two days subsequent, the politician was present at Perry’s Lifetimes Tour performance at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Us Weekly verified their relationship status as dating, albeit “casual,” on August 5.
Perry’s lighthearted remark about no longer pursuing Englishmen wasn't the sole clue she offered regarding her current romantic situation at Monday’s show.
The Grammy-nominated artist gave a curious answer when a fan named Darren came up on stage and popped the question.
Darren stated, “I understood you were unattached,” prompting Perry to respond, “You heard I’m single? How fascinating.”
Once Darren knelt and presented a marriage proposal to Perry via a prominent sign, the surprised vocalist declared, “Are you serious? Not today! Honestly, you really should have proposed around two days ago.”
In September, several exclusive sources informed Us that Perry and Trudeau continued to see each other following their initial encounters earlier in the summer.
One insider revealed to Us, “They’ve opted for a significantly more discreet approach.” The source added, “They remain in communication and share a strong mutual interest.”
A different source mentioned that the liaison “lacks seriousness” due to Perry’s “incredibly demanding schedule” while on tour.
The insider specified, “Justin has arranged to visit her during her upcoming break in a few weeks, upon her return from the Brazil leg of her tour,” referencing the pause Perry took before her European performances began on October 4. “Katy is approaching things one day at a time but is quite receptive to pursuing relationships.”
