Kayla Lochte Breaks Silence on Divorce, Citing Cocaine Allegations and Rebuilding Her Life

Kayla Lochte, who is separated from Ryan Lochte, has spoken out regarding the dissolution of their marriage.

“I’m presently managing a complicated divorce, and frankly — it can make you feel as though time has stopped,” Kayla, aged 34, revealed in an extensive Instagram update on Friday, October 24, effectively reacquainting herself with her followers and supporters during her split from the Olympic athlete. “I’m utilizing this period to reconstruct my life, find myself anew, and pursue my aspirations with precision and bravery.”

Kayla, who initiated divorce proceedings against Lochte, 41, in March 2025, started her social media message with a “new headshot,” assuring her audience that her “heart remains unchanged.”

“It’s been some time since I’ve truly presented myself, so here are 10 facts to (re)familiarize you with me,” she proceeded. “My name is Kayla — a mother to three wonderful children and two canine companions. I work as a realtor and enjoy depicting authentic life on social media (though I wouldn't label myself an influencer — merely an individual with a public voice).”

Kayla further mentioned that her main “driving force” is “assisting others.”

“I naturally connect individuals and flourish by uniting concepts and people to achieve objectives,” she stated. “My parents separated when I was two years old, so I matured as a child traveling alone between coasts to see my father — self-reliant from an early age.”

Her relatives signify “everything” to her, Kayla noted, even though they reside “in California and Florida.”

“I strive diligently to maintain strong bonds,” she went on.

Kayla initiated divorce proceedings against Ryan in March 2025, concluding seven years of marriage. Together, they have three offspring: Caiden, born in 2017; Liv, born in 2019; and Georgia, born in 2023.

Last September, Kayla submitted documents expressing apprehension regarding Ryan’s abstinent state, claiming to have discovered empty cocaine baggies within the residence. Furthermore, she alleged the celebrated swimmer consumed nitrous oxide in the presence of one of their offspring.

Ryan has refuted these claims when speaking to Us Weekly.

“As I admitted earlier this week, following my vehicle collision in 2023, I entered a depressive phase which resulted in drug dependency,” Ryan informed Us on September 2. “I do not dispute my drug use within my residence, yet I strenuously deny ever consuming drugs in the presence of or near my children, and I have never transported them under the influence.”

Ryan added, “Occasionally, I would repose in my truck rather than entering the house — not due to impairment, but because the atmosphere at home had grown oppressive and highly unhealthy, and I required a moment to compose myself before entering.”

Ryan conveyed to Us that he “endeavored fervently to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of these divorce actions,” not for his own benefit, but, as he stated, to “safeguard my children from” supposed “concocted accusations that might harm them.”

“Regrettably, despite that endeavor, my former spouse opted to publicize this issue, aware that I was already undergoing intensive rehabilitation,” he proceeded. “Everyone errs in life. We are characterized not by those errors, but by the lessons we derive from them and the dedication we invest in surmounting them. I profoundly regret causing pain or disillusionment to anyone throughout this journey. My current priority is my rehabilitation, striving to be the most exemplary father possible, and progressing in a manner that ensures my children's safety, support, and affection.”
