Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman's Relationship Evasion: A Timeline
During their time as a married couple, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman often faced questions regarding one another, yet there were instances when they appeared reluctant to delve into their relationship.
Kidman and Urban first encountered each other in 2005 and exchanged vows the subsequent year. The couple are parents to two daughters, Sunday and Faith. (Kidman also has two adult children whom she adopted with her former husband, Tom Cruise.)
Urban and Kidman stood out as a prominent power couple in Hollywood, frequently expressing their adoration for each other. Nevertheless, occasions arose when they preferred not to address the topic of their romance.
A multitude of these instances came back into public discussion when Kidman and Urban parted ways in September 2025. Us Weekly verified that Kidman initiated divorce proceedings after 19 years of marriage, stating “irreconcilable differences” as the grounds for their separation.

Pivoting the Topic
In September 2024, Urban participated in an interview with the Australian radio station Gold 1017. Presenter Amanda Keller questioned the musician regarding how his and Kidman's romantic journey began.
“You first met at G’Day Australia, was that the name of the event?” Keller inquired, prior to Urban clarifying the event's actual title, which was “G’Day LA.”
Keller subsequently introduced the concept of destiny, probing Urban for his opinion on whether he and Kidman would have united had they not both attended that particular event. Urban responded, “Yes, I believe we would.” Keller persisted in asking Urban about his belief in fate, but he appeared disengaged from the discussion.
Following one final attempt by Keller to elicit a reply from Urban, he stated, “Right, let's move along.”
Setting Boundaries
During a July 2024 interview with The Times, Urban frankly expressed his reluctance to talk about Kidman.
“I simply don't wish to provide you with a news story focused on my spouse,” he informed the publication.
Kidman's name did arise at one stage during the interview, specifically when Urban's past battles with substance abuse were being discussed. (Kidman orchestrated an intervention for Urban before he admitted himself to rehabilitation shortly after their marriage.)
“I genuinely prefer to put that behind me because, inevitably, the interview would become ‘My wife rescued my life,’ and I'd rather avoid that narrative,” he explained.
Abrupt Exit
Urban appeared on Hayley & Max in the Morning in July 2025 to promote his High and Alive World Tour. The discussion shifted when the presenters unveiled a segment known as the “Wall of Truth.”
“During our ‘Wall of Truth’ segment, Keith, we frequently find ourselves in a position where we must respond to a rather sensitive, deeply private inquiry,” explained host Hayley Peterson. “To be frank, I feel quite uneasy posing questions to our wonderful guests that they might find awkward.”
Fellow host Max Burford subsequently mentioned Kidman’s recent collaboration with Zac Efron, the film A Family Affair.
“My thought was, ‘How does Keith Urban react when he watches his stunning wife engaging in these captivating love scenes on television with attractive younger men like Zac Efron?’” Burford queried.
The presenters awaited an answer, but Urban appeared to have disconnected from the video conference.
“He just dropped off Zoom,” someone else in the background remarked. “I believe his public relations team ended the call because they wished for us not to ask that particular question.”
Urban has not publicly commented on the occurrence, though People reported, citing an insider, that Urban himself did not terminate the call.
Avoiding the Subject
Several months prior to their split, Urban made an appearance on Ryan Seacrest’s radio program in late July 2025. Seacrest, who had collaborated with Urban on American Idol in the past, inquired with the country artist about Kidman.
“Do others frequently remark that your wife is ubiquitous? Nicole Kidman truly appears in everything,” Seacrest commented to Urban, who chuckled before seemingly attempting to redirect the discussion.
“Indeed, she's nearly as occupied as you, though not quite — very close, nonetheless,” Urban replied.
Seacrest proceeded to praise Kidman and her latest endeavors, to which Urban responded with a simple “yeah.” The host then questioned Urban on how he and Kidman manage to juggle their demanding individual careers.
“It requires effort, yes,” Urban stated, averting his eyes from the camera.
