Keith Urban's Cryptic Tattoo Comment Hinted at Divorce Weeks Before Split

Reports indicate that Keith Urban subtly hinted at an impending divorce from his estranged wife, Nicole Kidman, several weeks before their official split.

Dale Whiteside, a fan known for his resemblance to Urban, informed TMZ in an interview released on Friday, November 22, that the country music star made a particular comment during a pre-concert interaction on September 15 in Saskatoon, Canada. This remark, he suggested, seemed to foreshadow the end of his marriage to the Australian actress.

Whiteside recounted telling the singer that he had been mistaken for Urban by a couple at a recent music festival. He explained to the outlet that the couple only realized he wasn't the musician because he lacked a wedding ring and Urban's distinctive tattoos.

“Next time, it’ll probably be just the tattoos,” Urban reportedly told Whiteside, just two weeks before news broke concerning Kidman and Urban's divorce.

Us Weekly has attempted to contact Urban's representatives for a statement.

Kidman initiated divorce proceedings on September 30, the day after Us confirmed the couple's separation. The actress cited irreconcilable differences as the basis for the split, simultaneously submitting a proposed parenting plan, child support outline, and an order for a “parenting seminar.”

According to the filed documents, the parenting plan included Kidman's request to be designated the “primary residential parent” for their two daughters, Sunday and Faith. The proposal also stipulated that the girls would spend 306 days annually with Kidman and 59 days with Urban, including every other weekend.

An exclusive source who spoke to Us revealed that while the breakup shocked many, it was considered “long overdue.”

“Keith had moved on and had openly discussed his position with Nicole,” the insider stated at the time. “The pair had quietly grown apart over time, and by the end, the decision to separate felt more like an accepted reality than a surprise.”

Urban and Kidman married in 2006 in Australia — a year after their first meeting — and welcomed Sunday, now 17, and Faith, now 14, during their union. (Kidman also has two children, Isabella, 32, and Connor, 30, from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise.)

During their separation, Urban concluded his High and Alive World Tour in Nashville on October 17, sparking rumors of an affair with guitarist Maggie Baugh after he modified some lyrics in “The Fighter,” a song dedicated to Kidman. Neither Urban nor Baugh has publicly addressed the allegations, though Baugh had previously discussed her stance on never dating musicians in 2017.

“There’s always been a rule you can’t date the band members because what happens if we break up?” she explained to Piper’s Picks in 2017.

Urban eventually removed “The Fighter” from his set list, while Baugh stopped performing with the country music star and later announced a new song, “The Devil Win,” which premiered on October 10.

According to the same source, Urban has not dismissed the possibility of finding a new romantic partner in the future following his marriage to Kidman.

“[He] is not in an exclusive relationship but is open to new connections and has moved past his marriage with Nicole,” the source told Us.
