Kelly Osbourne Mourns Loss of Close Friend and Celebrity Makeup Artist Jasen Kaplan
Kelly Osbourne is grieving the loss of her longtime friend and renowned celebrity makeup artist Jasen Kaplan.
“I’m heartbroken. I cherished you so much @JasenKaplan,” Osbourne shared via her Instagram Story on Thursday, January 1. “Thank you for all the affection, laughter and happiness you brought [to] my life. I hope you have found peace now. Life will never be quite the same without you! Rest in peace, my dear friend.”
Kaplan passed away in New York City on Wednesday, December 31, Page Six reported. The reason for his death remains unknown.
“@JasenKaplan I promise to ensure Coco is always well cared for,” Osbourne wrote in a separate Instagram Story while posting a picture of Kaplan with his dog. “I will always miss our late-night video calls!”

The former Fashion Police cohost proceeded to post some of her favorite memories with Kaplan, including an instance when he dressed up as Osbourne.
“Nobody was as amusing as you!” she wrote. “You were the best confidant a girl could ask for. 25 years of friendship and every moment was worthwhile.”
The New York Police Department informed Page Six on Thursday that they are investigating the death of a 46-year-old man at Kaplan’s apartment building, and that the chief medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
Us Weekly has contacted the NYPD for a statement.
Kaplan had a thriving career as a makeup artist working with numerous celebrities, including Cyndi Lauper, Eva Longoria and Lynda Carter.
When The Real Housewives of New York City alum Tinsley Mortimer married Robert Bovard in November 2023, she enlisted Kaplan to do her makeup.
“One of my dearest friends discovered the love of her life. A genuine fairytale,” Kaplan wrote via Instagram in November 2023. “I felt so fortunate to be a part of her special day. I love you @tinsleymortimer 💖 #MakeupByMe.”
More recently, Kaplan had the opportunity to collaborate with Bethenny Frankel on several campaigns with brands like MCoBeauty and Terez clothing.
“Everyone knows how much I enjoy glamming @bethennyfrankel, but to glam her wonderful daughter Bryn is an honor!” he wrote via Instagram in September 2025. “What a delightful day with two of my favorite women in some of the FINEST athletic wear around!!”
In September 2024, Kaplan also journeyed to Paris with Frankel on a special work trip that he described as a “dream come true.”

Between working with reality personalities, Kaplan also had the chance to appear on television when he was a contestant on Finding Prince Charming.
Kaplan appeared on the gay, Bachelor-style dating program produced by Lance Bass for Logo in 2016. He was ultimately eliminated in week 2.
