Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes Spark Reconciliation Rumors on New Year's Eve
Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes have reconciled after separating two months ago.
On New Year's Eve, Ballerini, 32, posted a photo through her Instagram Stories that showed the pair, in silhouette, seemingly kissing outdoors at sunset.
“It was a challenging year for the heart, a turbulent year as external influences impacted our relationship, and a difficult year as it became a public portrayal beyond our control,” read a caption over the image. “However, what I will say, and all I truly intend to share regarding my personal life moving forward, is that I deeply cherish love. I believe in it, I believe in him, and I believe in changing established patterns. Now, please share affection with your loved one and refrain from speculation.”
Meanwhile, Stokes, 33, shared a similar image on his Instagram feed, adding another photograph of him embracing Ballerini.

“I’ve realized something this year: don’t undervalue the most beautiful things that, in 33 years of life, are fleeting,” he wrote in his caption. “Take responsibility, learn from errors. Express your love frequently. 2026 will be my year of growth, my year of truth. Beginning here, beginning now. Happy new year.”
A source exclusively informed Us Weekly in November that Ballerini and Stokes had ended their relationship after a brief period of getting back together. The couple initially separated in September after dating for over two years.
“It’s over,” a source told Us on November 20, adding, “It was too much for Kelsea.”
The insider described the relationship as “so unstable and damaging” in recent months, and said that “jealousy certainly played a role.” Ballerini, the source noted, “had difficulty trusting” the Outer Banks actor, a concern that seemed rooted in her divorce from Australian country singer Morgan Evans three years ago.

Since that marriage concluded, “it’s been tough for her to trust again,” the insider told Us.
“Chase genuinely tried to make it work and cares for her,” the source said, noting, “There’s a possibility they could reunite.”
The breakup news followed a sighting in October where Ballerini and Stokes were observed together in Scotland appearing “very affectionate and holding hands at the bar,” a witness recalled. The following month, they were spotted in Croatia, where Stokes was filming the final season of the Netflix series Outer Banks.
However, by November 19, Ballerini attended the CMA Awards without Stokes. People noticed the two were no longer following each other on Instagram. At the time, the actor posted this message to his Instagram Stories: “Don’t believe what you read. I’m being ignored, I did nothing wrong. Sorry. I tried.” He also wrote, “I’m sorry to those who supported us. It is what it is. Moving forward.”

In early December, Ballerini addressed the situation while holding an “Ask Me Anything” session through her Instagram Stories.
“How are YOU?!? You inspire so many of us, what do YOU need?” one fan asked the “I Sit in Parks” singer.
“Thank you for asking and saying this,” she replied. “I’m in a calm and content place right now, genuinely excited for this Australia tour and the holidays.”
She continued, “If I could request one thing, it would be respecting my desire to keep my personal life private for the time being. Unless it comes directly from me, it’s not accurate. And that is truly important in safeguarding my peace of mind right now.”
