The source indicated that Ballerini, 32, saw Stokes, 33, as potentially her soulmate.
“She had never experienced love of this magnitude previously,” the insider further stated. “He was someone who would gaze at her constantly. Their affection for each other was profound.”

“He possesses the highest emotional intelligence of anyone I've encountered,” Ballerini commented on Stokes during a November 2023 installment of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. “I often tell him he seems like a character created by a female author.”
During that period, Ballerini elaborated on how her physical and emotional closeness with Stokes reshaped her views on her past relationship experiences.
“My prior encounters in that realm felt like a performance, primarily for the other individual,” Ballerini remembered. “It's no longer that way. I previously didn't grasp how [intimacy] could genuinely link partners in a relationship. I always considered it merely an act. Now, I understand it serves as a unifying force for people.”
Following two years and numerous joint red-carpet events, Us reported in September that Ballerini and Stokes had ended their relationship.
“Their separation was difficult,” a second insider informed Us then. “They'd been having frequent disagreements lately, and their dialogue suffered over the past month. Both were frequently on the go, attempting to manage everything, which led to an accumulation of conflicts.”

Stokes has since appeared to confirm their lack of communication.
“I've been blocked, I committed no wrongdoing. My apologies. I made an effort,” the Outer Banks star posted on his Instagram Story on Thursday. “My regrets to those who had faith in us. Such is life. Moving forward.”
