Kendra Bird Grapples with Future of Daughter Brie's Influencer Account

Kendra Bird is considering how she will remember her daughter and influencer Brie Bird on social media following her passing.

“I’ve given a lot of thought to how this account will evolve, and how I am going to continue, when I don’t feel motivated to share anything,” Kendra wrote via Instagram on Saturday, December 27.

She continued, “It’s always striking to see how people gather when you are hoping for a positive outcome, and then when they feel like the story is finished, or it’s no longer of interest to them, they leave by the thousands. How fortunate they are to be able to step away, turn their attention elsewhere, and move on to the next ‘exciting’ thing.”

Kendra, who also uploaded a series of clips of Brie smiling and playing with her siblings, went on to share that she’s been “afraid of the silence” for two weeks.

Influencer Brie Bird's Mom Recalls Final Moments Before 9-Year-Old's Death

“The arrangements for the funeral are complete, the festive atmosphere of the holidays ends, and now we simply have to pretend that our world will function as usual, even though ours has been disrupted,” she wrote.

She continued, “This will always be a space where faith, kindness and honesty are discussed. We will continue to support families affected by cancer, share natural health solutions, talk about grief and deeply miss Brielle. If you wish to be a part of this community, welcome, we are grateful for your presence! If discussing death is upsetting to you, whether it’s through photos, videos, or our honest portrayal of reality, we understand if you need to step away. Details about Brie’s final days will be shared, as it was helpful for other cancer mothers to know what to expect.

Kendra shared on December 12 that Brie died after a battle with stage IV cancer. She was 9. (Brie was diagnosed with neuroblastoma cancer in 2020 and placed in hospice care earlier this year.)

“You are the miracle! Your purpose on earth was fulfilled, and it was the greatest privilege to guide you home. You led people to Christ, you demonstrated to the world that God is good, and your light shone to every corner of the earth. We love you eternally!” Kendra wrote via Instagram at the time, alongside a photo of Brie.

How Sheinelle Jones Is Coping After Husband Uche Ojeh's Death

She continued, “We will look for you in all the small details, especially dragonflies. We will never cease sharing your story. Please come visit us often. Your bedroom door will always be open, and we’ll leave the playroom light on. You did it Brielle, you accomplished everything with grace! I can only imagine the wonderful reunion, and I’m so envious; but I know you went straight to Jesus. Thank you for being an inspiration to so many.”

Kendra has been open about navigating Brie’s diagnosis, explaining in September that she was inspired by the way Today’s Sheinelle Jones spoke about “finding beauty in the sorrow” after her husband, Uche Ojeh, died in May.

“She mentions that ‘even though she is moving forward, extracting every bit of happiness she can, she is striving for her joy,’” Kendra wrote via Instagram of Jones, 47. “I am frequently asked, ‘How are you doing?’ It’s become a question, that I not only don’t know how to answer, but I also feel like I’m completely dishonest if I reply with brief responses. I know that people know our story, and when I consider what they know, and how deeply I am hurting, I can’t bring myself to say, ‘getting by’ anymore. I am heartbroken and grieving. I am now going to respond with, ‘I’m fighting for my joy.’”
