Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick's enduring love story spans decades and a surprising first encounter.
Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick have celebrated over three decades of marriage — and seem to be even more deeply in love now.
The couple initially met when Bacon, who is seven years older than Sedgwick, was performing in a theatrical production in the ‘70s.
“There was a young girl in the audience who had just attended the earlier showing, and her brother encouraged her to tell the actor she admired him, and it was Kyra,” he shared on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson in 2014. “She was a young girl, yes, she was twelve years old.”
Ten years later, the pair collaborated in 1987 on the PBS film Lemon Sky.
“He certainly wasn’t my ideal type,” Sedgwick revealed to Redbook in 2008. “Actually, I distinctly remember observing his rear as he turned away after our first encounter and thinking, ‘Well, I suppose some women are attracted to that.’”
She obviously experienced a shift in her feelings, marrying the Footloose actor on September 4, 1988. The following year, Sedgwick and Bacon grew their family, welcoming son Travis. Daughter Sosie, who has since pursued a career in acting, arrived in 1992.
