Kevin Federline Explains Memoir Motivation Amid Child Support Speculation
Kevin Federline addressed the conjectures surrounding the motivations for his forthcoming autobiography, You Thought You Knew.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight released on Tuesday, October 14, Britney Spears’ former spouse faced a question about whether he launched the book “due to the termination of child support from Britney.” (The one-time pair tied the knot between 2004 and 2007 and have sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden, 19, together.)
Upon hearing the query, Federline first smiled, then replied, “You're getting straight to it, huh? Okay. I wouldn't be truthful if I claimed I didn't desire this book to achieve success. My hope is to sell a million copies or even more, or something along those lines.”
The DJ and professional dancer, whose 228-page publication is scheduled for release on Tuesday, October 21, further stated that “financial gain is not the core reason for this narrative, [and] it never has been.”
The explanation for why Britney Spears' ex-husband, Kevin Federline, is now releasing a memoir.
Federline — also a father to daughter Kori, 23, and son Kaleb, 21, from his former relationship with ex Shar Jackson, in addition to daughters Jordan, 14, and Peyton, 11, with his wife Victoria Prince — proceeded to explain his rationale for writing the book.
“My intention was to ensure my children had reached an age where they could comprehend my actions,” Federline informed the publication. “My family has consistently been at the center of everything, a fact people often overlook … every action I've undertaken has been for the welfare of my children, and my children are prepared for me to recount my narrative. It isn't solely my account, is it? This impacts everyone in my family. My children, my spouse, even my former partners.”
The previous month, an insider revealed exclusively to Us Weekly that Federline intended to present his life story to his admirers on his own terms, nearly two years following Spears' release of her own autobiography, The Woman in Me.
Kevin Federline's forthcoming memoir is set to elaborate on the 'derision' faced during his marriage to Britney Spears.
“Kevin dedicated approximately three or four years to crafting this book,” the anonymous source communicated to Us then. “This wasn't a sudden project he assembled hastily following the release of Britney's book. He has never truly shared his perspective thoroughly, and understanding that interviews and documentaries can be distorted, he wished for people to hear it directly from him.”
In his Tuesday interview with Entertainment Tonight, the publication noted that Federline has not “communicated” with Spears “for years” but has “received accounts from their two sons,” prompting concern for Sean and Jayden’s domestic situation.
“I am genuinely apprehensive. As a father, I am utterly terrified that I might awaken one day to find my sons confronting something unfathomable,” he conveyed to the news source. “I feel compelled to raise the alarm that I sincerely believe, in some fashion, I simply wish their mother would seek assistance.”
Federline's comments follow a statement made to Us on Tuesday by a representative for Spears, 43, who asserted that the memoir is being released “after child support with Kevin has concluded,” and that “he and others are exploiting her for financial gain.”
Spears' spokesperson emphasized that the pop icon places her children's welfare above everything else. “Her sole focus is on her children, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their welfare amidst this sensationalism,” the statement declared.
