Khloé Kardashian Shuts Down Cruel Comments About Amari Thompson’s Dance Class
Khloé Kardashian is refusing to tolerate cruel comments directed at Amari, the 19-year-old brother of her former partner, Tristan Thompson.
“The last time I shared footage of Amari at his dance class, I encountered ridiculous remarks like, ‘Is this even dancing? Does he understand what's happening?’” Kardashian, 41, stated in a video posted to her Instagram Stories on Saturday, December 13. She added that this “gross commentary” was unnecessary for both herself and others.
The television personality then advised, “If you lack understanding of special needs individuals or their interests and sources of happiness, please refrain from commenting. If this content isn't appealing to you, simply don't watch it. We are perfectly fine on our side.”
Amari is the younger sibling of Thompson, 34, who had an intermittent relationship with Kardashian between 2016 and 2021. Amari, who is nonverbal, manages Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and epilepsy. Following the death of their mother in 2023, Thompson was granted legal custody of his brother, and Kardashian has since assisted her former partner in Amari's care.
The Dynamic between Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson's Brother Amari
On Saturday, Kardashian made a point to showcase one of Amari's specific extracurricular pursuits.
“I'll be sharing several clips from Amari's dance class, and I want to clarify that I received permission to post them,” the Good American co-founder announced. “While other students are present, I was granted permission. I want to emphasize the incredible work of this dance academy for children with special needs. It's truly beautiful and unique, and these children radiate happiness.”
She continued, “I find it deeply moving and beautiful to witness these classes; it's hard not to shed a tear. I wanted to note that I am sharing this with explicit permission and to demonstrate everyone's joy. If you're looking for positive, uplifting content, please continue watching.”
Kardashian subsequently uploaded numerous videos featuring Amari engaging in movements alongside instructors and fellow students, set to music from popular sources like High School Musical and the Spice Girls at Carousel Dance Studio in West Hills, California.
“The kindest students and instructors,” the star of The Kardashians wrote in a caption on a subsequent slide showing rehearsal footage. “I am so grateful for organizations and individuals like these!”
Kardashian expressed that attending Amari's class was “truly an honor.”
“This dance academy performs incredible acts for these wonderful children,” she noted on Saturday. “It's an honor to observe such remarkable spirits. The academy granted me permission to post these videos, recognizing that highlighting their work benefits their organization significantly. May God bless all these angels.”
An Examination of Tristan Thompson's Experiences as Amari's Legal Guardian
Kardashian has consistently championed Amari's welfare multiple times, both prior to and following her separation from Thompson. (Kardashian and Thompson have two children together: True, 7, and Tatum, 3.)
“Andrea was Amari's primary caregiver, and they resided in Canada,” Kardashian stated on a July episode of her podcast, referencing the brothers' mother. “After Tristan's mother passed away a few years ago, we—Tristan, myself, and my family—brought Amari to the United States. Given that Tristan plays in the NBA, he travels to a different state almost daily, which makes constant plane travel unsuitable for Amari.”
To accommodate Thompson's demanding basketball schedule, Kardashian opted to “provide care for” and “support” Amari.
“The climate in California benefits Amari greatly, and I cherish having him as part of my family,” Kardashian clarified, mentioning she also employs two caregivers for assistance. “Our goal is to give Amari the best and most fulfilling life possible. He truly merits it.”
