Kidman and Urban Finalize Divorce Terms After 19 Years of Marriage

It seems Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are working through the terms of their separation after the Babygirl star initiated divorce proceedings.
According to court records obtained by Us Weekly, Kidman, aged 58, officially submitted her divorce petition against Urban, 57, in Nashville this past Tuesday, September 30. The grounds for dissolving their union were stated as “irreconcilable differences,” and the date of their separation was noted as coinciding with the divorce filing date. The actress from Big Little Lies sought to be designated the “primary residential parent” for their underage daughters, Sunday, 17, and Faith, 14.
Accompanying the legal submission, Kidman presented a marital settlement agreement, which had been endorsed by her on September 6 and by her now-estranged husband on August 29, respectively. This document encompassed a custody arrangement, a child financial support scheme, and a directive for attending a “parenting seminar.”
Both Kidman and Urban relinquished their claims to alimony and ongoing child support, though a provision within the divorce papers indicates that the country music icon has “settled all child support responsibilities in advance.”

Furthermore, each spouse will maintain ownership of their individual properties and holdings.
As per the custody arrangements, Sunday and Faith are scheduled to reside with Kidman for 306 days annually and with Urban for 59 days, a schedule that includes alternating weekends. The couple concurred on collaborating to make all significant choices concerning their offspring. Nevertheless, the plan specifies that “should the parties be unable to reach a consensus on a significant matter for either minor child, [Kidman] will hold the ultimate authority in decision-making.”
Us verified on Monday, September 29, that Kidman and Urban had parted ways following 19 years as a married couple.
This announcement followed Kidman’s solo appearance at the Met Gala earlier in May. Their most recent public sighting together was on June 20, at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 match held in Nashville. Just a few days subsequent, the duo marked their 19th year of marriage.
“Happy Anniversary Baby @KeithUrban,” Kidman captioned an Instagram photo of herself and Urban, which marked the final instance she shared a picture with her now-estranged husband on her main feed before their separation.
Kidman and Urban first encountered each other in 2006 at the G’Day USA Gala event in Los Angeles. The star of Nine Perfect Strangers later disclosed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2017 that she harbored “a significant crush” on the country singer from their initial meeting, yet she believed her affections were unreturned.
She recounted, “He did not contact me for a period of four months.”
Conversely, Urban explained to The Sydney Morning Herald in 2018 that he was in a difficult personal situation when they initially met and felt it was not the opportune moment to reach out to Kidman.
He shared, “Someone had given me her contact information, and I carried it in my pocket for some time. I continuously pondered it, thinking, ‘Should I dial this number, she will pick up. I’m unsure what to communicate,’”. “My life at that time wasn’t in a particularly stable condition. I never imagined she would find anything appealing in a man like myself. Nevertheless, eventually I gathered the nerve to dial her number, and she answered, and we began conversing, and our conversation flowed with ease for a considerable time.”
