Kristin Cabot's estranged husband breaks silence on divorce after infamous kiss cam incident.
Kristin Cabot’s estranged spouse has publicly commented on their divorce following her widely shared kiss cam incident involving former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron at a Coldplay performance.
Speaking to People on Monday, September 8, a representative for Andrew Cabot confirmed in a declaration that Kristin and Andrew "had quietly and cordially separated several weeks prior to the Coldplay event."
The representative further stated that the couple's "choice to pursue divorce was already in motion before that night. With the divorce papers now a matter of public record, Andrew's wish is for this to bring a dignified end to rumors and grant his family the discretion they have consistently held dear."
Per People, Andrew leads Privateer Rum, a New England-based distillery, and is a father of two from a previous union. Kristin and he do not share any offspring. Kristin's earlier marriage was to Kenneth Thornby, ending in divorce in 2022. Sources indicate she and Thornby have one child.
Court records acquired by The Daily Mail on September 6 show that Kristin initiated divorce proceedings in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on August 13. Neither she nor Andrew had made their split public at that time. (Us Weekly sought a statement.)
Kristin, previously serving as Astronomer's Chief People Officer, garnered significant attention after she and her superior at the time, Byron, were seen on a large screen in an embrace during Coldplay's July 16 performance at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts. When the live camera focused on Kristin and Byron, she quickly turned away and covered her face, while he crouched down to conceal himself.
"Wow, check out these two. Okay, let's go. It's fine," Coldplay's lead singer Chris Martin light-heartedly remarked then. “They're either involved in a secret relationship or they're simply very bashful. I'm not entirely certain how to proceed."
Martin, aged 48, expressed to the audience, "I hope we haven't caused any trouble."
Byron and Kristin had been colleagues at Astronomer, a technology firm, since November 2024. Following the online circulation of their kiss cam video, Byron’s wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, appeared to delete his last name from her Facebook presence. Byron subsequently stepped down from his position.
“Astronomer upholds the principles and ethos that have been our foundation since inception,” a company representative informed Us in a declaration on July 19. "Our executives are anticipated to exemplify exemplary behavior and responsibility, and recently, that expectation was not fulfilled. Andy Byron submitted his resignation, which the Board of Directors has approved."
By July 24, Us verified that Kristin had also departed from her role.
"Kristin Cabot is no longer associated with Astronomer," a representative informed us then. "She has stepped down."
Byron himself had announced Cabot’s appointment the prior November, stating, "Kristin's outstanding leadership and profound knowledge in talent management, staff involvement, and expanding human resources approaches will be vital as we maintain our swift growth."
Kristin, for her part, conveyed that she felt "reinvigorated during discussions with Andy and the Astronomer executive team regarding the prospects available here."
