Kristin Cavallari opens up about dating post-divorce and valuing peace.
Kristin Cavallari is speaking candidly about her love life — and whether or not she is seeing someone new.
On the Tuesday, December 9, episode of her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast, Cavallari, 38, shared that she is dating a man located in Los Angeles when asked by a listener for advice on a situation where a guy “will ask to hang out and plan dates, but he also goes a whole week without reaching out.”
“The man I am dating in L.A., he’s based there while I am in Nashville, and both our schedules are full,” The Hills alum explained. “We don’t maintain a consistent texting relationship. We might exchange messages once in a while, a little back and forth, but not regularly.”
Cavallari explained that her suitor will occasionally reach out by phone; however, there are times when she won’t hear from him for weeks on end.

“And in addition, I am not reaching out to him either because life is busy and I believe we prefer to date someone who has their own life, someone who is occupied, where they genuinely cannot text you all day long or call you every day,” she clarified. “And I just think, especially if you have children, things are busy. I can't be in communication with someone all day.”
The reality star continued, saying that previously, when she “wasn’t hearing from someone regularly,” it would “activate” her “past emotional baggage” and “habits” — but she is now “finished with that phase.”
“I’ve progressed into this phase where ‘I appreciate when I hear from this man, but I’m not preoccupied with thinking about him throughout the day,’” she stated.
Cavallari was previously married to Jay Cutler from 2013 until their separation in April 2020. The couple shares children Camden, 13, Jaxon, 11, and Saylor, 9.
“With great sadness, after 10 years together we have reached a loving conclusion to get a divorce,” Cavallari wrote in a caption on Instagram, accompanying a photo of the former couple. “We hold nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the time shared, memories created, and the children we are so proud of. This is simply a case of two individuals growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we manage this difficult time within our family.”

Following their contentious divorce, Cavallari was linked to comedian Jeff Dye, country singer Chase Rice, model Mark Estes, NHL star Nate Thompson and Utah Jazz head coach Will Hardy.
After her divorce from Cutler, 52, was finalized in 2022, Cavallari stated that she had grown considerably since their separation.
“The last five years have been vital for me. I experienced many things during that time,” she exclusively told Us Weekly in June while promoting her docuseries, Honestly Cavallari: The Podcast Tour, noting that “obtaining a divorce” and “removing [her] dad” from her life were some of the transitions. “Ultimately, I think maturing and recognizing that what I had done previously was no longer effective for me helped me figure out what needed to change to set up the latter half of my life to be truly peaceful.”
Cavallari shared that her “entire life was never peaceful” — including her childhood years.
“Even in my childhood, things were constantly chaotic, and I now really cherish peace and stillness and quiet, and I’ve worked diligently to reach this point,” she explained to Us. “My general life now is very peaceful and very ordinary, and I’m truly proud of that and I’m very happy that I experienced the challenging times because I emerged on the other side stronger, much more attuned to who I am, and considerably more comfortable with myself.”
