Kristin Cavallari reveals teen curfew bust with Stephen Colletti landed her in hot water with parents
Kristin Cavallari engaged in numerous youthful indiscretions during her adolescence, including an incident where a disagreement with her former boyfriend, Stephen Colletti, resulted in an encounter with law enforcement.
“While living in Laguna, I recall police escorting me home for being out late,” the 38-year-old Cavallari recounted during the September 2nd episode of her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast. “Before reaching 18, a curfew is enforced, which I believe is midnight, and I had exceeded it.”
Cavallari elaborated that she was a high school junior at the time, out beyond curfew alongside Colletti, currently 39, who was a year ahead of her academically.
“We had stopped our car on the roadside, I believe we were arguing,” she further stated. “We had pulled off the road to discuss our disagreement, lacking other suitable locations. A police officer drove by, noticing two adolescent individuals in an altercation. Naturally, he would stop to investigate the situation.”

The law enforcement official approached Cavallari and Colletti, requesting their identification. As Cavallari was not yet of legal age, the officer transported her back to her residence. Nevertheless, Cavallari’s father was completely unaware that she had “departed” their home initially.
“I recall approaching the entrance thinking, ‘He’s going to be furious. My father will absolutely be furious because he has no idea I left,'” she contemplated. “I remember my dad appearing very puzzled as he opened the door, stating, ‘Hold on, I thought you were sleeping.’”
Cavallari and Colletti maintained an intermittent relationship during their high school years. Their romantic involvement and the purported love triangle involving fellow cast member Lauren Conrad served as a primary narrative for the successful reality program Laguna Beach. The series premiered on MTV, running from 2004 to 2006 across three seasons.
Although Cavallari and Colletti chose not to continue their romantic relationship post-reality television, the two have maintained a strong friendship.

“We maintain a friendship. I communicate with them periodically,” Colletti revealed exclusively to Us Weekly in July 2018 regarding his connection with both Cavallari and Conrad after high school. “I’ll visit. Conrad hosts an excellent Fourth of July celebration in Laguna, which I typically attend. And yes, I’ll chat with Cavallari every so often. We consistently touch base and exchange greetings.”
Cavallari expressed comparable feelings several years afterward, during a 2023 installment of her and Colletti’s “Back to the Beach” podcast.
“We have consistently supported one another, always cheering each other on,” she stated. “We have always genuinely cared for each other, which I believe is significant.”
