Kyle and Mauricio: Still Friends, No Reunion on the Horizon

Kyle Richards and estranged husband Mauricio Umansky enjoyed a festive holiday season together despite their separation — but what is their current status?

“They are not reconciling or restarting their romantic relationship,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly after the pair were seen together on several occasions between Christmas and New Year’s.

The insider adds there is “still a great deal of affection between them,” noting that Richards, 56, and Umansky, 55, are “in a very positive place right now” after announcing their split in 2023.

“Kyle and Mau have successfully maintained a sense of normalcy, particularly in front of their daughters, especially during the holiday season,” the source shares, highlighting their four daughters as the reason they were observed together throughout the holidays.

Richards shares Alexia, 29, Sophia, 25, and Portia, 17, with Umansky. The real estate agent is also the stepfather of Richards’ eldest daughter, Farrah, 37, whom she welcomed with Guraish Aldjufrie in 1988.

“The daughters aren’t encouraging [a romantic reunion] either,” the source tells Us, mentioning that, “Of course it would be wonderful if they ended their separation, but the family understands it’s most likely not going to occur.”

Whether there’s a romantic connection or not, Richards and Umansky have diligently worked to preserve their friendship while living apart.

“They are genuinely friends now and still have a lot of fun together,” the insider says. “They have been affectionate towards one another but that doesn’t signify they are getting back together.”

As Richards and Umansky begin 2026, the source adds that “everyone” in their circle “appreciates the current dynamic.”

“Everyone is very content. They have progressed significantly and are back in a good position,” the insider concludes.

Richards and Umansky were married for 27 years before experiencing difficulties in their relationship.

“Kyle and Mauricio have been separated for some time, but are still currently residing together,” a source told Us in July 2023, pointing out that the separated spouses “are amicable while they determine the next steps.”

The pair confirmed their separation that same month, stating that “reports concerning a divorce are inaccurate,” but acknowledged they “had a challenging year.”

Richards and Umansky said in an Instagram statement that it had been “the most difficult” year in their relationship, but they continued to “love and respect each other greatly.”

After living apart for two years, Umansky exclusively told Us in November 2025 how he and Richards have maintained their friendship.

Umansky added: “We’re fortunate to just be genuine and open. We don’t have to fabricate anything for television. Everyone’s like, ‘What’s your secret?’ Well, my secret is that it’s not fake. My secret is that it’s real.”

While Richards and Umansky have consistently maintained that they are friends despite their current relationship status, their increased appearances together toward the end of 2025 did spark some fans to wonder if they might be reuniting.

Days after Christmas, their daughter Sophia shared a heartwarming video of Richards and Umansky watching a movie together while a cozy fire burned nearby.

“My parents watching their little movie and eating their little popcorn on the floor like little kids,” Sophia wrote alongside the clip.

Sophia’s older sister Alexia wholeheartedly agreed with the December 27 moment, writing in the comments section, “Stop it. They’re our babies.”

Richards and Umansky further fueled reconciliation rumors on New Year’s Eve too, after they were spotted at Kate Hudson and Cade Hudson’s holiday party in Aspen, Colorado.

Page Six reported on Thursday, January 1, that the exes were reportedly “affectionate and warm” with each other throughout the evening.
