Legendary Filmmaker Rob Reiner and Wife Michele Found Dead in Brentwood Home
UPDATE — December 15, 2025, at 7 a.m. ET: Famed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his spouse, Michele Singer Reiner, died in their Brentwood, Los Angeles, residence on Sunday, December 14, as verified by their family.
“It is with immense sadness that we share the tragic deaths of Michele and Rob Reiner,” a family representative stated in a message provided to Variety. “We are devastated by this abrupt tragedy and request privacy during this extraordinarily challenging period.”
An initial report from TMZ earlier on Sunday indicated that sources within law enforcement verified that two individuals discovered at the Reiners' Brentwood property were indeed the couple.
The publication also reported that the pair showed “wounds consistent with a knife,” and the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery Homicide Division continues to probe the incident.

Reiner, the offspring of renowned comedian Carl Reiner and performer Estelle Reiner, initially achieved stardom playing Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the successful CBS sitcom All in the Family, created by Norman Lear, earning two Emmy accolades for the role.
He subsequently transitioned into a career in film direction, managing acclaimed films like This Is Spinal Tap, Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally…, Misery, and A Few Good Men.
Reiner continued his acting work as well, featuring in roles on The Wolf of Wall Street, New Girl, and The Bear.
Reiner married Michele in 1989, and together they had three children: sons Jake and Nick, and daughter Romy. He also had an adopted daughter, Tracy, from his previous marriage to Penny Marshall.

Jamie Lee Curtis and her husband, Christopher Guest from This Is Spinal Tap, issued a statement saying, “Christopher and I feel numb, saddened, and shocked by the tragic, violent deaths of our cherished friends Rob and Michelle Singer Reiner, and our SOLE priority and concern currently rests with their children and immediate families, to whom we will offer all possible assistance.”
“There will be ample time later to reflect on the creative endeavors we shared and the considerable political and social influence they both held within the entertainment sector, early childhood education, the campaign for gay marriage, and their worldwide concern for a world facing crises. We have lost wonderful friends. Please allow us time to mourn,” they concluded.

Two individuals were reportedly discovered deceased within the West Los Angeles residence belonging to Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Reiner.
Based on a TMZ report released on Sunday, December 14, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the couple’s estate for “medical aid” at approximately 3:30 PM PT on Sunday.
The publication detailed that authorities “found a man around 78, and a woman, around 68” at the location. The Los Angeles Police Department reportedly arrived at the scene 10 minutes following the Fire Department's arrival.
