Leslie Bibb Opens Up On Choosing Childlessness and Her Enduring Love for Sam Rockwell
Leslie Bibb has consistently expressed no inclination towards parenthood.
During her appearance on Jenna Bush Hager’s “Open Book” podcast on Wednesday, November 20, Bibb, 52, articulated, “Children aren't something I desire. I don't possess that inherent instinct, and I question my ability to be the kind of mother I'd aspire to be.” She elaborated, “My father passed away when I was three, deeply affecting my mother, who subsequently worked incessantly to support her four daughters.”
The star further explained, “I keenly felt her absence as she was constantly striving. My sole wish was for her presence, yet she was dedicated to our upbringing. This instilled in me the profound importance of providing similar dedication, should I ever have a child.”
Simultaneously, Bibb absorbed valuable lessons on cultivating a strong work ethic from her mother.

She cherished motherhood but equally embraced her identity as an independent, intelligent, resourceful, and driven woman. That tenacious spirit, I deeply admired.”
Bibb’s upbringing and family experiences even influenced her childhood play preferences.
She shared, “As a child, I don't recall engaging in typical baby doll play; instead, I'd often cut their hair,” indicating an absence of maternal instincts. “It was never there for me. My nurturing inclination is entirely directed towards dogs; present a dog, and I react with utter delight.”
While Bibb finds contentment in her choice regarding motherhood, she acknowledged that external opinions can, at times, be quite vocal.
Bibb observed, “Curiously, a woman’s choice to remain childless often seems to be interpreted as a commentary on her upbringing or her mother’s longing for grandchildren.” She added, “It’s remarkable how personally we internalize the choices of others, and I admit I'm no exception.”

She further commented, “I'm simply conscious of the passage of time, as the ultimate destination often appears so distant. My goal is simply to savor it, and my patience is limited. Saying 'No' has become considerably less challenging for me.”
Bibb has embraced her current life path, which notably features an 18-year relationship with acclaimed actor Sam Rockwell.
In a June segment of Today With Jenna & Friends, Bibb clarified her disinclination towards marriage to Bush Hager, 43, stating, “My affection for Sam Rockwell is immense; I'd metaphorically keep him with me constantly, I adore him. However, formal marriage is not something I desire.” She continued, “It feels as though we are already married. … He also shared this sentiment. Perhaps it stems from our respective upbringings, but my philosophy is, 'If something functions well, there's no need to alter it.'”
