Lil Nas X Begins Treatment Following Felony Charges After Arrest
Lil Nas X has begun a course of treatment following his arrest and the four felony charges he faced last month.
The 26-year-old artist is receiving care at a facility not located in California, the location of which remains private, his attorney verified on Monday, September 15, as reported by Rolling Stone.
“The defendant may stay outside of the state provided he continues with his treatment,” stated Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Shellie Samuels, adding that if Lil Nas X’s “treatment arrangement alters to outpatient care, then we will re-evaluate.”
Information regarding Lil Nas X’s medical care is confidential, and his next court appearance is scheduled for November, the publication reported.
Key Information Regarding Lil Nas X’s Arrest, Medical Care, and Related Events
Following the hearing, Drew Findling, Lil Nas X’s legal counsel, provided an update on his client.
“You heard the term ‘treatment.’ We are prioritizing what is optimal for Montero both personally and professionally, but above all, for his overall welfare,” Findling stated outside the courthouse, in footage circulated on X. “He is supported by a wonderful family and a dedicated team who genuinely care for and love him. We are simply addressing these matters. It's truly that straightforward. He has lived an excellent life, and he will continue to do so. This is merely a setback he will overcome.”
Lil Nas X, whose birth name is Montero Lamar Hill, was taken into custody and admitted to a hospital on August 21 after being discovered wandering in his undergarments on Ventura Boulevard in Los Angeles. He reportedly tried to assault a police officer when approached by law enforcement.
On August 25, the L.A. County District Attorney formally accused the “Industry Baby” artist of four felony offenses: three counts of battery against a police officer and one count of resisting arrest. Lil Nas X entered a plea of not guilty.
On August 25, Robert Stafford, Lil Nas X’s father, informed reporters that his son was not using “illegal drugs” before his arrest. He further mentioned that Lil Nas X was “in good spirits” and “doing fine” after being taken into custody.
“He deeply regrets the incident, but such things can affect any family. He will receive the necessary assistance,” Stafford stated. “And please keep him in your thoughts. Extend to him the same compassion and forgiveness that God offers to all.”
In an August 29 interview with London’s The Times, Stafford later recalled his poignant visit to his son.
“Upon visiting him in jail, the moment I entered, I was overcome with emotion and began to cry,” he shared. “Seeing my son on the other side of that partition. We both cried together for a period. And I felt it necessary to tell him that ‘your experience is not uncommon.’ Everyone experiences difficulties occasionally, but your situation is distinct because it unfolds publicly.”

He also recounted Lil Nas X requesting him to convey a message to his admirers.
“During my visit, he requested that I communicate, ‘Please tell everyone I regret they witnessed me in that state,’” Stafford added. “Even at that point, he was expressing remorse to people for the personal struggles he was enduring.”
In Van Nuys, Judge Sarah Ellenberg established Lil Nas X’s bail at $75,000, leading to his release on bond on August 25. He addressed his arrest publicly the next day.
“Your girl will be fine, everyone,” he declared in a video posted on his Instagram Stories. “She will be alright. She will be alright. Goodness. That was incredibly frightening. That was frightening. Those last four days were terrifying, but your girl will be fine.”
