Lily Jade Owns Her Narrative Launching OnlyFans After Aussie Shore Slut Shaming
Following criticism for engaging in sexual activity during the inaugural season of the Jersey Shore offshoot Aussie Shore, Lily Jade chose to own her evolving public persona by creating an OnlyFans account.
"I received a significant amount of slut-shaming throughout the program," the 22-year-old Jade revealed exclusively to Us Weekly in advance of the second season's debut. "During the first season, I was the sole female cast member who had sex on television, and that certainly agitated many people because it was a young woman having sex. Their reaction was, 'I can't believe she's doing this. It's so disgusting.' However, from my perspective, everyone has sex. If I'm not having sex on TV, I would be having sex in my everyday life anyway. It's not something extraordinary. … I thought, 'If people are determined to discuss it, I might as well give them more to discuss.' I simply made the decision to launch [OnlyFans] one day."
Although Jade "didn't anticipate any particular outcome" after establishing her account, she observed that "it exploded in popularity within the initial 24 hours."
"I was genuinely surprised because I hadn't uploaded any photos or videos. I essentially just created the account and built it up from there," Jade clarified. "I find it amusing now because the very first content I ever shared was merely a topless picture. I believed I was being extremely provocative and rebellious for doing that. But reflecting on it now, I think, 'Goodness, that's hardly a concern anymore.'"
Lily Phillips' father confessed he would divest their home to persuade her to cease her OnlyFans activities.
While contending with online negativity concurrent with the launch of her OnlyFans page, Jade consistently received support from her parents — who "always recognized [she] was destined for public recognition."
"My parents would never prevent me from pursuing anything I desired. They were incredibly supportive. They assured me that if I wished to proceed, they would stand by me. Since then, they've been completely fine with it," Jade commented, adding that "limits" are in place concerning her new profession. "They grasp that it's employment. Should they learn about it from others or if anything is mentioned, they recognize it's simply a job and they choose not to dwell on it."
Simultaneously managing her OnlyFans platform and her reality television endeavors, Jade is set to reappear in the second season of Aussie Shore.
"Prior to joining, I genuinely debated back and forth, wondering, 'Do I want to alter anything? Do I want to behave more amiably for a positive portrayal?' I was contemplating various actions I could take to improve my own feelings," she stated. "However, I'm unsure. I ultimately reasoned, 'Why should I have to do that for a television program?' I should never be compelled to change my behavior or my identity, because all my family and friends outside of the show appreciate me as I am. That's what truly ought to matter to me."
