Lisa Vanderpump Unfazed by Kyle Richards' 'Goodbye Kyle' Jab as She Pivots to 'Vanderpump Rules' Revival

Lisa Vanderpump isn't bothered by Kyle Richards, sharing only with Us Weekly her thoughts on Richards appropriating her husband Ken Todd’s famous “Goodbye Kyle” phrase against him.

“Frankly, I don't really give it much thought,” the 65-year-old Vanderpump informed Us, discussing the situation while publicizing the forthcoming Vanderpump Rules revival.

Vanderpump confirmed that she and Todd, 80, did encounter Richards, 56, at the Beverly Hills Hotel prior to BravoCon, but stated she missed her former friend's slight. (During a BravoCon discussion, Richards asserted she uttered “Goodbye Ken” as the pair departed the L.A. establishment, mere days before their mutual attendance at the Vegas convention).

“Indeed, it's correct. I wasn't aware she noticed us,” Vanderpump remarked during a private conversation with Us at her SUR restaurant in West Hollywood on Thursday, November 20.

“We were at the Polo Lounge recently, and it was busy,” she elaborated, admitting she did spot Richards but “chose not to engage” since she was accompanied by companions.

When questioned about hearing Richards utter “Goodbye Ken,” Vanderpump responded, “No, and I doubt anyone else did either, so it's inconsequential.”

Richards isn't the sole past RHOBH associate with whom the entrepreneur has recently encountered.

“I had the distinct experience of being seated across from Lisa Rinna last night; surprisingly, she was just six feet away,” Vanderpump recounted, revealing her initial thought was, “Well, hello. Oh dear.”

Vanderpump was a cast member on RHOBH for multiple seasons with Richards and Rinna, 62, leaving in 2019 following the suicide of her brother, Mark Vanderpump.

Although she had conflicts with Rinna during her time on the show, Vanderpump's bond with Richards dissolved after allegations surfaced that she had leaked a story to the media regarding Dorit Kemsley clandestinely rehoming Lucy Lucy Apple Juice, a dog adopted from Vanderpump Dogs.

Vanderpump expresses no remorse for her exit from Housewives — nor for opting not to reconnect with her previous castmates at BravoCon.

“Honestly, I typically steer clear of Housewives matters. I simply state my role is to discuss Vanderpump Rules,” she informed Us, “and not to entangle myself in the trivialities concerning the Housewives.”

She proceeded, “Whenever they gather, a disagreement invariably ensues. That's not my style, nor has it ever been. During my time on Housewives, I always found the humor in situations, until it ceased to be amusing, and I departed.”

Nevertheless, Vanderpump does find some of the individuals from her previous franchise agreeable.

“I adore Garcelle [Beauvais]. Garcelle is simply an honorable person,” she revealed. “I was disheartened by her exit, as it wasn't under the most favorable circumstances. I believe she's fantastic.”

“I encounter Camille [Meyer] periodically, and we always share a warm greeting,” Vanderpump further stated. “However, when an entire group conspires to fabricate a narrative, I don't hold much regard for that.”

Currently, the businesswoman remains fully occupied, featuring in two of her distinct reality programs, Vanderpump Villa and Vanderpump Rules season 12, which premieres with an entirely fresh ensemble on Tuesday, December 2.

This cohort of servers and bartenders — comprising Venus Binkley, Jason Cohen, Shayne Davis, Chris Hahn, Angelica Jensen, Marcus Johnson, Audrey Lingle, Natalie Maguire, Demy Selem, and Kim Suarez — is poised to establish themselves in a completely fresh, post-Scandoval period at SUR.

“I consistently expressed my candor to production regarding my disinclination to participate in a failing venture,” she conveyed to Us concerning the choice to revitalize the reality television show after 11 prosperous seasons.

The ‘VPR’ Cast Was Unaware of the ‘Scope’ of Season 12’s Recasting Strategies

“I believed Vanderpump Rules was at its peak, earning Emmy nominations. We enjoyed excellent viewership, but I sensed we had concluded the narrative. And I eventually felt it grew somewhat more challenging to shoot,” she clarified, referencing Tom Sandoval’s affair with Raquel Leviss and Ariana Madix that fractured the previously cohesive ensemble. “The group's chemistry was fractured. It was completely splintered. And I decided it was time for a fresh start.”

Vanderpump focused the cameras on a number of her actual SUR staff, remarking that she desired the franchise to revert to its origins, and the fresh lineup proved satisfying.

“They are exceedingly vocal. They're keen to express their views,” she hinted. “They were remarkably comfortable before the cameras. Furthermore, they were emotionally open to revealing their sensitivities. There are some truly compelling individual narratives here.”

Vanderpump quipped, “I genuinely like all of them, and I told them, ‘You know what, in eight years, you'll all be a nuisance to me because that's how I'll measure the show's triumph.'”

“They're charming, eager, ambitious, and employed here,” she observed. “It revolves around the culinary industry, their individual experiences, and their collaborative interactions, which I believe forms an excellent core. Therefore, they coexist out of necessity, and that also propels the storyline.”

Vanderpump Rules season 12 will broadcast on December 2 at 9 p.m. on Bravo, with streaming available the following day on Peacock.
