While many pop culture aficionados will recognize Tupper from his roles in Big Little Lies, Revenge, and Mercy, the actor has also achieved success in various theatrical productions and off-Broadway shows.

“Cinema belongs to directors. Television belongs to writers. The stage belongs to us actors,” Tupper once told Broadway World in December 2024 before participating in a Los Angeles staging of The Seagull. “It’s the most challenging and profoundly rewarding.”

Tupper still harbors aspirations of performing in a Broadway play at some point in the future.

Tupper and Heche first encountered each other in 2006 on the set of their film Men in Trees. What followed was a long-term partnership that spanned from 2007 to 2018.

During their relationship, the couple welcomed a son named Atlas in March 2009.

Heche tragically passed away in August 2022 following a vehicular accident in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles. Atlas was merely 13 at the time of his mother’s passing.

For Atlas — an accomplished student and tennis player — he is grateful to have an engaged father at home.

“There’s no exaggeration. He means everything to me,” Atlas told Us at the holiday event. “I wouldn’t be where I am at all [without him]. … I genuinely love him very much.”
