Loughlin and Giannulli Head Towards Divorce After Years of Scandal Fallout
Approximately three months after publicly announcing their separation, Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli are not dwelling on the past.
“They are pursuing independent lives and determining their next actions,” a source exclusively informs Us Weekly. “A divorce appears likely in the near future.”
While Loughlin, 61, and Giannulli, 62, are “not rushing” to file legal documents ( “Several financial matters require resolution before that can occur,” the insider clarifies), they have commenced selling their assets, including residences in Hidden Hills and Palm Desert, California.
“They maintain a friendly relationship; there is no animosity between them,” the source reveals to Us, noting that the Full House actress even “extended an invitation” to the fashion designer for a family Christmas celebration. “The situation is more amicable than many believe or anticipate.”
However, the insider states that Loughlin and Giannulli’s 28-year marriage was significantly impacted by their involvement in the 2019 college admissions controversy. (The couple pleaded guilty in 2020 to paying $500,000 in bribes to secure their daughters, Bella, now 27, and Olivia Jade, now 26, places at the University of Southern California as rowing recruits. Loughlin and Giannulli subsequently served prison sentences of two and five months, respectively, for their roles in the nationwide Operation Varsity Blues scheme.)

“The university scandal marked a pivotal moment, and they struggled to reconnect or regain their relationship afterward,” the source tells Us. “She felt that he had drawn her into the situation. While she didn’t entirely blame him, he was the driving force. She never fully forgave him and never fully recovered, and they were never the same after.”
A second insider confirms that the separated couple “drifted apart in recent years” but emphasizes that they “have consistently presented a united front” for the benefit of their daughters.
“They gradually grew apart and realized they no longer shared many common interests as their daughters matured and the fallout from the scandal subsided,” the second source explains to Us, pointing out that Loughlin and Giannulli experienced “various challenges” throughout their marriage and “both made errors.”
As the actress looks toward the future, which includes a return to her Hallmark Channel series When Calls the Heart, the second insider shares that she is “genuinely content” and “in a positive state of mind.”
“It was difficult for her to share the news with her daughters, but they were anticipating it, and it wasn’t unexpected to them,” the source adds. “The dynamic between Lori and Mossimo is currently cordial. They remain in family group chats, and communication is pleasant.”

The Summerland actress’s representative confirmed to Us in October 2025 that the long-time couple were “living separately.” Later that month, a source indicated that “numerous individuals within Lori’s circle” were “disappointed with Mossimo,” including her former Full House costar John Stamos.
“She goes to fing prison for this jerk,” Stamos, 62, expressed on the “Good Guys” podcast at the time, telling listeners that Loughlin “didn’t deserve to be subjected to that.”
Stamos went on to say, “For a woman who has consistently lived a virtuous life – a good mother, a good wife, which I know to be true – to be caught up in now this separation and, you know, exploding, disrupting her family this way, I just hate to see her go through this. I truly do.”
