Louis Partridge prioritizes privacy in his romance with Olivia Rodrigo
Louis Partridge articulated his preference for maintaining the utmost “privacy” regarding his romantic involvement with partner Olivia Rodrigo.
The 22-year-old Enola Holmes star discussed with Esquire in an interview released on Thursday, September 18, the contrast between jointly appearing at public events with Rodrigo and his simultaneous decision to largely remain silent on their romance. During the summer months, Partridge was observed at Rodrigo’s main stage performance at the Glastonbury Festival, subsequently accompanying her in the Royal Box at Wimbledon.
“I noticed numerous pictures from [Wimbledon], which made it feel rather exposed,” he confessed. “Olivia and I opt, or have been opting, for a less public profile. Clearly, it was a significant summer for her with Glastonbury, yet there’s an inherent sacredness to keeping things private.”
Partridge appeared less ambivalent about being present at Glastonbury because it represented “a truly significant milestone” in his partner’s professional journey. (The performer had first praised Rodrigo’s Glastonbury performance on Instagram in June, stating that his girlfriend “put in immense effort for [the festival] and fully merited all her achievements.”)

“She dedicated an immense amount of effort to it. And everything culminated perfectly,” he further stated in his most recent interview. “It was exceptionally memorable to witness her being celebrated there, so to speak.”
The Paddington 2 luminary also discussed if there was any benefit to being romantically involved with a public figure such as Rodrigo, 22, who understands the intense examination from both her admirers and the press.
“I believe so, yes, to avoid overstating it or needing to clarify it, or having someone comprehend it,” he replied. “I simply have no doubt that our relationship is based on genuine intentions, for instance. I’m certain that’s a consideration one must make upon achieving a particular degree of fame. It’s comforting to know we can attend events jointly, and it’s not an outlandish situation to be across from just anyone. You have a confidant during those moments.”
The pair predominantly endeavored to avoid public attention during the initial months of their romance, although Partridge was pictured at Rodrigo’s Jingle Ball performance and her Saturday Night Live showing in New York City in October 2023.
With rumors circulating that Rodrigo penned her track “So American” with him in mind, Partridge hesitated to validate or refute the speculation in October 2024.
“It’s not my composition, nor is it my position to say. Therefore, I wouldn’t be privy to that information,” he informed Elle back then.
Rodrigo and Partridge eventually appeared publicly as a couple on the red carpet at the Venice International Film Festival in August 2024 to support his Apple TV+ show Disclaimer, and subsequently attended the 2025 Grammys together in February.
Partridge has displayed a commendable sense of humor regarding his two-year relationship with one of the globe’s most prominent pop artists. Earlier this month, Variety inquired about his feelings concerning being perceived by certain individuals as “Mr. Olivia Rodrigo.”
“I am perfectly capable of managing that,” he responded. “[That has been my identity for] some time now. I am extremely content, and I believe she is as well, so everything is favorable in our lives.”
