On October 19, reports emerged detailing how four people executed a quick, seven-minute theft within the Louvre’s Galerie d’Apollon, making off with $100 million worth of jewels. The stolen artifacts remain unrecovered, even as French law enforcement has apprehended multiple individuals believed to be involved.
Online detectives have since started sharing purported booking photos of the suspects — however, these images are fabricated. A particular post featured Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford pictured alongside dancer Stefan Dolbashian.
“Initially, I simply dismissed it with a laugh, not giving it much thought, but then on that very day and for several days afterward, nearly everyone I know contacted me to inquire if I was the person in the photograph,” Dolbashian shared with Today.

The image of Crawford disseminated online following the robbery originated from his arrest in 2010. In the subsequent year, The New York Post revealed that Crawford’s legal matter would be dropped, and the minor drug offense would be expunged from his history — provided he completed 24 hours of community service, reported monthly to a probation officer, and avoided further arrests.

Dolbashian, whose booking photo gained widespread attention alongside Crawford’s, playfully mocked the online post. A different Instagram profile featured an image of the dancer alongside an unrecognized individual. “Parisian police have apprehended two males suspected of purloining invaluable gems from the Louvre Museum. The duo was caught following a nocturnal pursuit through the avenues adjacent to the famous glass pyramid. Authorities state that the inquiry is still active as they strive to retrieve the absent treasures,” the accompanying text stated.

Four individuals have faced charges from the Paris prosecutor guiding the inquiry, as reported by the New York Times.
