Love Is Blind's Lydia and Milton Are Officially Divorced

Love Is Blind season 5 alumni Lydia Velez Gonzalez and Milton Johnson have officially finalized their divorce, Us Weekly can exclusively report.

“I’m delighted to share that Milton and I are now formally divorced,” Lydia, 34, stated to Us in a declaration. “It was a romantic union until it wasn’t, and I wish him all the very best. 2025 proved to be a year of endings, and 2026 will be a year for a fresh start. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone for their affection and support during what has been the most difficult year of my life!”

Just weeks prior, a source informed Us that the couple’s separation hadn’t yet been resolved due to ongoing financial matters.

“It has required several months because with professional commitments and education being a priority, Milton has been delayed on his end,” the insider told Us in December 2025. “However, they were nearing completion.”

'Love Is Blind' Couples Status Check: Who Is Still Together?

Lydia and Milton, 27, established an immediate connection while participating in the pods on the Netflix reality program. Although the revelation that she had dated costar Uche Okoroha months before filming created difficulties for Uche and his romantic interest Aaliyah Cosby, Milton didn’t allow the disclosure to damage his developing relationship with Lydia.

“I believe [that] it ultimately comes down to our values aligning,” Milton exclusively told Us in September 2023. “We shared the same morals, we desired the same things from life. From the very beginning, it simply felt right, it felt like a perfect match. So, we wanted to truly pursue that and see where it could lead us.”

The pair initially bonded over their careers — Lydia is a geologist, while Milton works as an engineer. Although their seven-year age difference caused Lydia to hesitate at one point in their romance, the two continued to return to each other.

“I think the aspect that I appreciated most about Lydia is [that] we’re quite similar in many ways when it comes to the industries we work in and we’re both born on islands, but when it comes to our emotional intelligence and being vulnerable, we’re on completely opposite ends of the spectrum,” Milton explained to Us. “And that’s something I genuinely value because there’s a part of me that recognizes, ‘Hey, perhaps this is unusual. Perhaps I am a little bit too emotionally reserved.’”

Milton acknowledged that things with Lydia weren’t always smooth, though. “Then after the pods, just like any relationship, there’s effort [that needs to be put in to maintain the bond],” he added.

Lydia and Milton ultimately exchanged vows during the season finale, which aired in October 2023, and became the only successful couple from the show’s fifth season. Later that month, Lydia revealed that they had a long-distance marriage as Milton had relocated to Long Beach, California, for his job while she remained in Houston, Texas, for hers.

“We simply miss each other so much, so every moment that we have together, we try to truly cherish it and try to be there as much as we can for each other when we are actually in the same location,” Lydia told Entertainment Weekly in October. “The challenge is just traveling through airports. I really dislike airports, but aside from that, it’s been wonderful.”

After two years of marriage, Lydia announced that she and Milton had separated.

Love Is Blind's Milton and Lydia’s Relationship Timeline

“I’ve remained quiet for too long, not necessarily because I had nothing to say, more because I wasn’t prepared for other people’s opinions and judgments,” she said on the “What’s the Reality?” podcast in June 2025. “Initially, everything was beautiful [and] perfect. It was a fairy tale. He showed me a type of love that I’d never experienced before. He loved me for who I was, and that was my goal for being on the show [and] being loved for who I was not and not be labeled ‘too much.’ Now, I am called ‘too much.’”

Lydia further claimed she began noticing subtle things in her marriage that felt “very disrespectful.”

“He would rarely compliment me,” she claimed, alleging that Milton never commented on her social media posts. “He should be like, ‘That’s my woman,’ and [nothing]. … It’s a lot, and then when people around you notice [and] it kept appearing and appearing.”

While Milton never responded to Lydia’s podcast claims, he addressed her divorce petition in September 2025 and accused his now-ex of “cruel treatment.”

“The marriage has become unsustainable because of discord or conflict of personalities between [Milton] and [Lydia] that destroys the legitimate end of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation,” Milton’s lawyer stated.
