Luke Bryan's Wife Shares a Hilariously Unconventional Holiday Moment

Luke Bryan’s wife, Caroline “Lina” Bryan, is sharing details about what she considers a “typical” occurrence within their family during the holiday season.

“Absolutely nothing about our family is conventional,” Caroline, 45, wrote on Instagram Saturday, December 27. “I was just enjoying a long-awaited bath … suddenly my mother-in-law and son simply walked into the room as if it were Zero Dark Thirty … settled in and began having a relaxed conversation with me.”

She continued, “Oh … and afterward, I looked outside and Luke was operating an excavator. That’s just how things are for us.”

Caroline and Luke, 49, first met in college at Georgia Southern University at a local bar.

“It took me about eight seconds to realize who she was and it took her roughly eight years to understand it,” he revealed to The Boot in February 2013. “I had to have quite a few drinks before I could approach her, but I did. Somehow I managed to make my way over there and be somewhat charming. It was one of those moments for me, it was like, ‘Who is that and how do I go talk to her? And, yes, I’m going to marry that girl.’”

The pair dated for more than a year before parting ways after a discussion about marriage. Four years later, Caroline and Luke rekindled their relationship.

“She was three years younger than me in college,” Luke told the Huffington Post in March 2012. “I was nearing the end of my studies when we met. So I went off and pursued my career in Nashville and she finished her college education, which allowed us both to establish ourselves a bit more firmly.”

Luke and Caroline exchanged vows in 2006 and welcomed sons Bo and Tate in 2008 and 2010, respectively. Following the passing of Luke’s sister and brother-in-law, he and Caroline also became the guardians of their three children: Jordan, Kris and Tilde.

“It’s simply what you do as a family,” Luke explained during an October episode of CNN podcast’s All There Is with Anderson Cooper. “And I suppose you tap into a tribal instinct and do what you can to … But Til wasn’t necessarily an adoption; it was more that we had to sign paperwork confirming our responsibility for him. And watching him come into our home and grieve the loss of his father was incredibly difficult. And to see my wife step up and do the work she needed to do was one of the most impressive things I’ve ever witnessed.”

While reflecting on his sister’s death, Luke explained that “you have to look for the positives” and “appreciate” them.

(Luke explained in the podcast that sister Kelly Bryan suffered from “sudden death syndrome” and had a “rather serious” orbital bone injury, adding, “So whether she fainted or not, I believe she may have fallen and knocked herself unconscious.”)

“My oldest Bo and Til, they are like typical brothers. It looks and sounds just like two brothers complaining, arguing, wrestling, and teasing each other,” he said. “But with Tate, my 15-year-old, and Til, they have a truly special bond, and I can’t imagine a household where Til wouldn’t have grown up in it. And, I mean, it’s just been a blessing and a positive outcome to have him and to see the girls navigate life and become mothers and… and get through daily challenges has been quite inspiring. I’m very proud of them.”
