Machine Gun Kelly's Style Icon Win Becomes a Duet with Bestie Pete Davidson

Musician Machine Gun Kelly was joined by a notable companion as he accepted the prestigious Style Icon accolade at the 12th Annual Fashion Media Awards – his dear friend, Pete Davidson.

“I’m incredibly thrilled. I made an effort to delay and bide my time until he arrived,” the 35-year-old artist, known as Machine Gun Kelly, revealed exclusively to Us Weekly during his red carpet appearance at the Rainbow Room in New York City on Friday, September 12. “I’m truly ecstatic.”

The Lost Americana artist (whose birth name is Colson Baker) and Davidson, 31, have maintained a close bond since 2019 – a camaraderie that largely remains outside public scrutiny.

“We both consider ourselves such fools that we manage to find common ground somewhere,” Machine Gun Kelly joked to Us, mentioning that they even enjoyed a relaxed get-together the preceding day, Thursday, September 11. “We spent time watching films and embracing our fatherly roles.”

The artist is a father to Casie, 16, from his relationship with ex Emma Cannon, and to Saga Blade, 5 months, with ex-fiancée Megan Fox. Davidson, meanwhile, is anticipating the arrival of his first child with his pregnant girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt.

Both Davidson and Casie accompanied Machine Gun Kelly as his guests on Friday, and both received affectionate mentions during his acceptance address.

“I wish to express my gratitude to my estranged husband, Pete, [and] my lovely daughter for their encouragement this evening. I’m quite anxious,” Machine Gun Kelly quipped in his address at the Casamigos-sponsored event. “I want to commend the Daily Front Row for making me feel honored tonight. This is genuinely a privilege because… this is a tight-knit community, and I’ve often felt somewhat peripheral to it.”

He continued, “My given name is Colson. I believe my fashion sense can be considered unconventional. For some, my name might not be recognized, but I am truly unreserved about my genuine self, both in my words and my attire. I chose not to write a speech as I’ve felt that anticipation often results in disappointment. I’ve experienced many such instances throughout my life, and now I’m simply embracing the thrill of the moment.”

The musician additionally emphasized his “deep appreciation” for being granted the Style Icon distinction.

"I am extremely thankful to be present and to be part of this dialogue. It suggests to me that perhaps I should more seriously delve into fashion, including design, promotional work, and modeling,” Machine Gun Kelly elaborated. “I am 6 feet 4 inches tall and consume a considerable quantity of cigarettes, which fulfills many of those requirements.
