Madi Prewett Embraces Submission in Marriage After Bachelor Stint
Former Bachelor contestant Madi Prewett has discovered her specific position within her marital dynamic.
“I gained significant insights into embracing the role of a submissive spouse, a concept that initially presented difficulties for me,” the 29-year-old Prewett revealed on the Monday, December 1, installment of her “Stay True” podcast, reflecting on her experience as Grant Troutt’s wife. “At present, it's become something I deeply appreciate. I truly enjoy discussing the topic of submission.”
Prewett and Troutt, both 29, began their relationship in 2021, culminating in their engagement in August 2022. The couple exchanged vows just a few months later.
“Our engagement period proved challenging in numerous respects. There were many concurrent events, even in our personal lives separate from the engagement season,” Prewett shared with podcast guest Bryce Crawford, contemplating her rapid-fire romance. “[Grant’s] grandmother passed away, and there was just a lot happening in a brief timeframe.”

She continued, “We had a three-month engagement. The world believed we were irrational. Perhaps we were slightly so, but we were also incredibly eager to marry.”
According to Prewett, navigating her commitment to purity became most arduous after Troutt proposed. (The pair had made a vow to abstain from sexual activity until marriage.)
“I believe having a ring on my finger created a feeling of 'Man, it almost feels like we’re already wedded,'” she recounted of her strongest temptations. “To all engaged couples tuning into this podcast, establish additional safeguards and enlist trusted accountability partners.”
Prewett, who gained prominence during Peter Weber’s season of The Bachelor, subsequently outlined her top recommendations for those newly married.

“Strive for unity rather than proving yourself right. That was one of the toughest aspects for me when we initially married,” she declared. “I constantly desired to be correct, and it was my way or nothing. I learned extensively through prayer and humbling myself before God. He communicated, 'Actually, you have a considerable amount of internal issues to resolve.' It was profoundly sanctifying.”
Prewett also acquired crucial wisdom regarding how to manage her daily life as a wife.
“When we married, I envisioned that every single morning we would awaken, and we would have our quiet spiritual time together. We would pose thoughtful questions to each other,” the Dare to be True author explained. “He responded, 'No, I'm going to the coffee shop, and I'm having my quiet time. You spend time alone with the Lord, and I spend time alone with the Lord.' I simply understood, 'Wow, I cannot attempt to obtain from my husband what only God can provide. I must receive this from God first.'”

Prewett further discovered that engaging in daily prayer with Troutt “completely transformed everything.”
“Our initial six months of marriage were genuinely challenging and difficult,” Prewett confessed. “[It was] very revealing of character flaws that I believed I had addressed, only for them to resurface. Praying together fostered great unity and assisted us in combating spiritual adversaries.”
Prewett acknowledged that, despite her three-year marriage, she and Troutt have already “gained significant understanding in those three years.”
“Marriage is the most beautiful, humbling, refining, wild journey and ultimate friendship,” she elaborated. “It's simply the finest.”
Prewett and Troutt welcomed their first child, a daughter named Hosanna, in January.
