Maggie Baugh's Old Band Rule Amidst Keith Urban Romance Rumors
Maggie Baugh adheres to a significant principle regarding romantic involvement with other musicians, particularly in light of whispers about her supposed relationship with Keith Urban.
“My longstanding guideline has been against dating fellow band members, considering the potential complications if we were to part ways romantically,” the now 25-year-old Baugh stated in a recently unearthed segment from her 2017 conversation with Piper’s Picks.
Baugh elaborated back then that she avoids romantic entanglements with her bandmates to safeguard professional dynamics. She lightheartedly mentioned that a failed relationship shouldn't jeopardize her band's drummer. When Piper Reese inquired about the drummer's attractiveness, Baugh clarified her preference for friendly bonds over romantic interests.
“Of course, they're all attractive, but the drummer has been with my band the longest; he's practically family to me,” she remarked then. “My bass player is also like a brother. I consider everyone in my band my closest friend.”
Maggie Baugh Resurfaces on Instagram Following Keith Urban Speculation and Song Alterations
Now, eight years subsequent, Baugh is a subject of media attention due to speculation concerning her and Keith Urban, which emerged after his widely reported separation from Nicole Kidman. Us Weekly verified in September that Kidman, aged 58, and Urban, 57, had ended their nearly 19-year marital union. The day after this announcement, the actress initiated divorce proceedings, stating “irreconcilable differences” as the grounds for ending their marriage.
Baugh performs as a guitarist for Urban on his High and Alive Tour. Following reports of Urban and Kidman's separation, video clips from the country artist's earlier performances circulated digitally, where observers spotted notable alterations to the lyrics of his track “The Fighter.” This romantic tune, unveiled in 2016, originally chronicles Urban's bond with Kidman.
At a concert in April, Urban appeared to gesture towards Baugh across the stage while performing “The Fighter” and singing, “I was born to love you.” He subsequently modified the line to directly address Baugh, “Maggie, I’ll be your fighter.”
Months afterward, Urban vocalized another lyric aimed at Baugh during a September performance, merely days prior to the public announcement of Urban and Kidman's divorce. The original line, sung by Urban, 57, is, “When they’re tryna get to you, baby, I’ll be the fighter.”
Urban, however, sang, “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player.”
Baugh posted a video of this incident on her Instagram, with the caption, “Did he just say that.”
Maggie Baugh Absent from Keith Urban's Initial Concert Post-Nicole Kidman Divorce
The interaction between Urban and Baugh during performances fueled conjectures regarding their relationship. Neither individual has publicly discussed their bond thus far. Us has contacted representatives for both Urban and Baugh seeking a statement.
Maggie's father, Chuck Baugh, refuted these reports. Chuck posted a TikTok video on his Facebook account, which suggested his daughter might “allegedly [be] the person responsible for Keith’s divorce from Nicole Kidman.” He accompanied this with the emphatic statement, “NO. Just No.”
In the aftermath of his divorce, Urban has excluded “The Fighter” from his concert repertoire as his tour progresses. Maggie also temporarily stepped away from the tour, with Natalie Stovall substituting for her at Urban's initial post-split performance at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, October 2.
