Maggie Kim Honors Son Micah With Heartfelt Tribute One Week After His Passing
Catholic influencer Paul Kim’s wife, Maggie Kim, is honoring their 5-year-old son, Micah, a week after his passing.
“It has been one week since we had to leave the hospital. One week since it was determined that he would never return to our home,” Maggie wrote via Instagram on Thursday, January 8. “Leaving him alone in that room and walking away was the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever had to do. Every maternal instinct in my body protested how unnatural it felt.”
Maggie continued, “It’s also been one week of noticing signs of him and sensing his little ‘hellos.’ I never anticipated how grief and comfort could coexist. How each breath I take would ache with the reality that we must live without him. And how each memory of his smile would bring visions of his smiles in Heaven.”
Despite her family’s sorrow over Micah’s death from a serious case of the flu, Maggie mentioned that they have also “experienced a great deal of peace.”
Along with the tribute, Maggie shared a photograph of Micah’s hand clasped in hers.

Paul announced Micah’s death on December 31.
“After battling 11 long, difficult days, [Micah] went home to our Father’s house,” he said in a video. “We are incredibly proud of him. I want to express my sincere gratitude, as his dad, on behalf of my family, for all the ways you prayed and supported us during this time.”
Maggie also spoke out at the time.
“Micah, I miss you. There is a deep, profound ache in my heart. Even though our home is full of people, it’s too quiet without you,” she wrote via Instagram on January 2. “I keep imagining I’ll look outside and see you laughing on the swings. Or you’ll quietly open my door and walk up to my bed and that I’ll hear your sweet voice saying, ‘Mama?’"
Maggie continued, “Oh, the pain is unimaginable. And yet, you have shown us in various ways that you are with us. It’s not the same joy as holding your hand or hearing your voice, but there is an inexplicable joy that comes from knowing you are with Jesus. That you are in our true home. And that you are very, very happy.”
The social media personality, who also shares children Audrey, Remy, Joey Aiden and John Paul with Paul, asked Micah to “continue to visit” her.

“You were always such a helpful and eager person to make me smile. And I will continue to ask for your help. My boy. I am so proud of you,” she added.
Paul, who has over 300,000 followers on Instagram, initially revealed on December 21 that Micah had been rushed to the hospital in an ambulance after a “medical emergency.” A subsequent update revealed that Micah had a severe case of the flu, which led to sepsis and seizures. He was placed on life support, while brain scans showed that activity was “not present” in his body.
“This incredibly challenging, impossible time for our family — it has been the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced in my life and it continues to be,” Paul said of Micah’s hospitalization in his December 31 video. “For those two weeks we were fighting hard, we were consulting legal, medical, ethical teams even outside the hospital. Just to ensure we weren’t overlooking anything. In many ways we were fighting for Micah to give him as much time as possible, until he passed. As a father, that is my responsibility I was called to do that. Even if in God’s ultimate plan it wasn’t meant for him to recover.”
