Maggie Kim Shares Heartbreaking Tribute to Son Micah After Passing

Catholic influencer Paul Kim’s spouse, Maggie Kim, is sharing her feelings following the passing of her 5-year-old son, Micah.

“Micah, I miss you dearly. There is a profound, aching emptiness in my heart,” Maggie posted via Instagram on Friday, January 2. “Even though our home is full of people, it’s too quiet without you. I often imagine I’ll look outside and see you laughing on the swings. Or you’ll quietly open my door and walk up to my bed and that I’ll hear your sweet voice saying, ‘Mama?’

The sorrow of losing a child is “unimaginable,” Maggie added.

“And yet, you have demonstrated in various ways that you are with us,” she continued. “It’s not the same joy as holding your hand or hearing your voice, but there is an inexplicable joy that comes only from knowing you are with Jesus. That you are in our true home. And that you are very, very happy.”

Maggie’s husband initially informed his followers on December 21 that Micah was in a hospital and receiving life support after a “serious medical situation.”

Doctors gradually lessened life support, with Micah’s lungs showing gradual improvement on a ventilator. A subsequent MRI, however, revealed significant brain damage.

For the next 11 days, Paul — who serves as an ambassador to Cross Catholic Outreach — provided updates to his followers and received support from thousands of believers, including Gwen Stefani and The Chosen actor Jonathan Roumie. A GoFundMe campaign was also started to assist the family with mounting medical expenses.

On Thursday, January 1, Paul confirmed his son had died on New Year’s Eve after contracting a severe case of influenza.

“Thank you for all the love, prayers and compassion that a vast number of you have shown us,” Paul shared via Instagram on Thursday. “May God truly bless you. Your prayers for Micah were answered, but in a different way than what we had all hoped for. God healed and welcomed him into eternal life. He is where we all desire to be.”

As Paul pledges to remain devoted to his Catholic faith during his grieving process, Maggie also seems to be maintaining her belief that Micah is in heaven.

“I know you are running into the arms of every Saint you encounter with that big grin and saying, ‘Hi, I’m Micah.’ It’s easy to envision these things because this is what you did when you were alive on earth,” she wrote via Instagram. “Please continue to visit me and help mama keep going. You were always such a helpful and eager person to make me smile. And I will keep asking for your help. My boy. I am so proud of you.”

Maggie continued, “Yesterday was the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. I was reminded of how much you loved singing the Ave Maria after our prayers and how you said ‘Mama Mary is the best girl in the whole entire world.’ Well, now you’re in Heaven with her. And I’ll be there soon. Hold her hand until I get there.”
