Mary Cosby's Son Admits Guilt to Trespassing and Assault Charges
Robert Cosby Jr., the son of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City personality Mary Cosby, has admitted guilt to charges of trespassing and assault. This comes several months following multiple confrontations with his separated wife, Alexandria Cosby, and her father, as Us Weekly confirms.
Court records obtained by Us indicate that on November 25, Robert acknowledged committing assault, trespassing, and breaching a protective order.
People magazine noted that numerous additional accusations leveled against Robert were dismissed.
The court rejected Robert's appeal for release from detention. He is set to stay incarcerated until his sentencing proceedings in February.
Robert was apprehended on September 5 after an event involving his wife, who is referred to as A.S. in official documents. Legal papers state that Robert, aged 22, and A.S. are estranged. A.S. resides with her parents, while Robert maintains a separate residence.

Law enforcement stated that Robert gained entry to the dwelling and would not depart. The official report indicates, “The individual taken into custody had previously received notice from both his spouse and the property owner that his presence was unwelcome at the residence; both parties presented me with text message exchanges confirming his prohibition from the home, to which the apprehended individual had replied, acknowledging receipt.”
According to the report, Robert approached the house and accessed the backyard via a closed and secured gate. He subsequently entered the residence through a dog door and proceeded into his wife's bedroom, “instilling fear for her safety, and stayed there even after being requested to depart by both his wife and her father.”
A police officer testified that Robert confessed to having been informed he was forbidden from the property and that he gained entry through the pet flap.
The report concluded, “Because the detained individual entered a residence despite explicit instructions not to be there, and remained inside, thereby causing his wife to fear for her safety, he was arrested for criminal trespass of a dwelling, with an added domestic violence charge. “
Conditions for Robert's release from custody included an agreement to abstain from communicating with his separated wife. Nevertheless, authorities reported he sent her two text messages on September 6 and five messages on September 7.
Later the same day, September 7, Robert appeared at his separated wife's residence once more.
Official court filings indicate that law enforcement from the Taylorsville City Police Department in Utah responded to a reported domestic violence occurrence.
The individual who placed the call stated that Robert was trying to force entry into his father-in-law's home, identified as S.S., and that S.S. was in the front yard of the property.
Upon the officer's arrival, S.S. recognized Robert. The officer reported instructing Robert to “Halt” and “Lie on the ground,” but Robert initially refused. Ultimately, Robert obeyed and was taken into custody.

A witness informed police that Robert tried to gain access to the residence she shared with S.S. through the “rear entrance, and his head and upper body were already inside.” The witness recounted calling out for S.S., prompting Robert to retreat back through the dog door and sprint towards the front yard. The witness added that S.S. then confronted Robert, and Robert delivered “several blows to him.”
S.S. conveyed to law enforcement that Robert had struck him repeatedly. The official documentation recorded that S.S. exhibited “red marks on both ears, a cut on his left ear, and red marks on his torso.”
An officer reported discovering that Robert had sent text messages to his spouse, identified as A.S., who resided with S.S. Robert's wife was on the premises during the event.
Judicial filings confirm Robert's incarceration began on September 9.

On November 24, Robert's separated spouse, Alexandria, initiated divorce proceedings.
Clayton Simms, Robert's attorney, informed People that “comprehending and accepting the relationship's difficulties was challenging for Robert, given his religious beliefs and personal history. For him, marriage is revered and perpetual.”
His legal representative further stated, “His parents served as his model, having been wed for 27 years. Robert was hesitant to acknowledge and accept the end of his marriage and persisted in contacting his soon-to-be former wife. Robert has taken accountability for his errors and has entered a guilty plea to multiple misdemeanors.”
Mary, aged 52, discussed her son during a podcast appearance on September 10. She mentioned he was “managing as well as possible” following his recent sobriety.
Robert openly addressed his substance abuse issues on RHOSLC. He concluded a period in rehabilitation in 2024.
