Max Ehrich Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting Mother Following Nitrous Oxide Use
It is alleged that Max Ehrich, formerly engaged to Demi Lovato, consumed nitrous oxide and assaulted his mother, leading to his arrest on domestic violence charges.
Details from the police report, which TMZ acquired, indicate that authorities were dispatched following a domestic disturbance report, where an individual claimed the actor was broadcasting himself physically harming his mother.
Upon reaching the home Ehrich, 34, shares with his mother, officers reportedly found her seeking refuge at an adjacent property.
Rhonda Ehrich, his mother, recounted the purported assault, informing the attending officers that a dispute over her mobile phone had escalated between her and the former The Young and the Restless actor after he had taken nitrous oxide, preceding the altercation turning violent.
She stated that her son pursued her from their residence into a neighbor's yard, where he then allegedly shoved her down and delivered a kick to her thigh.
Although Ehrich's mother informed law enforcement that she sustained no severe harm during the occurrence, she asserted that her son “heavily abuses inhalants.”
Following their conversation with his mother, authorities repeatedly instructed Ehrich to exit the premises for several minutes. He was taken into custody and conveyed to jail after he complied.
On Tuesday, October 7, Ehrich was apprehended in Florida on a charge of battery against an individual aged 65 or above, as confirmed by Us Weekly.

However, his incarceration was brief; he secured his release on Wednesday after posting a $1,000 bond, according to TMZ.
The initial connection between Ehrich and Lovato, 33, emerged in March 2020. An insider revealed to Us at that point that they had become acquainted “a few weeks ago” and their relationship was “getting really serious,” leading to Ehrich relocating to the singer's California residence amidst the pandemic.
The source commented, “The quarantine has been really great for Demi and [she] and Max have gotten so close.” They added, “[She’s] doing a great job at staying sober, healthy and taking care of [herself].”
Following only four months of courtship, Ehrich and Lovato revealed their engagement in July 2020.
Nonetheless, the excitement of their engagement was short-lived, with the couple ending their relationship in September 2020.
In her 2021 YouTube documentary, Dancing With the Devil, Lovato subsequently confessed she “rushed into something” and “didn’t actually know the person that I was engaged to.” She elaborated, “The hardest part of the breakup was mourning the person that I thought he was … but I’m not the only one who felt fooled. I was just as shocked as the rest of the world at some of the things that were said and done.”
Despite this, Lovato rediscovered romance, marrying Jordan “Jutes” Lutes in May.
Lutes, who collaborated on several songs for Lovato’s 2022 album Holy Fvck, proposed in December 2023, having specifically learned to play the guitar for his unexpected romantic gesture.
Last month on SiriusXm’s “Morning Mash Up” show, Lovato shared, “He did learn to play the song on guitar that he wrote, and it was so beautiful. He made a song that was about our journey together.” She continued, “It had all these little Easter eggs in it, and it was so special and beautiful, and he proposed to me with that, and it was just so thoughtful and he’s the best.”
