McBee Dynasty Patriarch Prioritizes Dog Over Sons Before Prison

Before commencing his prison sentence, Steve McBee Sr., the esteemed patriarch of The McBee Dynasty, is diligently ensuring care for his cherished canine companion, Gunner.

“It’s humorous, really, as I approach 53, my mother is relocating back into my home. It feels like a full-circle moment,” remarked Steve, 52, to People on Saturday, November 29. He disclosed that his mother would oversee Gunner during his time away. “She has her own two small dogs and plans to reside at my residence, keeping Gunner company while she enjoys quilting throughout the day.”

With a touch of wry humor, Steve confessed his greater concern lay with Gunner than with his four adult sons: Steven Jr., Jesse, Cole, and Brayden.

Gunner has been my steadfast companion since he was just six weeks old, often sleeping right beside my neck. My sons, being grown men, will undoubtedly manage,” Steve confided to the publication. “However, Gunner accompanies me daily to work. Whether I’m operating a tractor, a combine, or a bulldozer, he’s always there, riding alongside me. Each evening, I reassure him, ‘Everything will be okay, buddy.’ ”

The McBee Family's Preparations for Steven McBee Sr.'s Upcoming Incarceration

It was reported in November 2024 that Steve Sr. entered a guilty plea concerning his participation in a multi-million-dollar fraud scheme involving federal crop insurance. As part of his plea agreement, the Bravo personality committed to paying over $4,000 in restitution. Subsequently, he received a sentence of two years in custody, with a self-surrender deadline of December 1.

Prior to commencing his term, Steve Sr. conversed with his ex-wife Kristi regarding the possibility of bringing Gunner for visitations.

“I’m uncertain if pets are permitted, but we intend to inquire,” Steve Sr. shared with People. “I can’t tell if a visit would alleviate or worsen his state.”

He also disclosed that both his family and the dedicated farmhands would collectively oversee the ranch's operations during his time away.

“I am fortunate to have the most exceptional team I’ve ever assembled, individuals of truly impeccable character,” he affirmed. “Therefore, I am confident that operations will proceed seamlessly, and perhaps even expand, during my absence. We recently convened a meeting where I conveyed that a leader’s temporary absence can often empower everyone to truly come into their own, rather than constantly seeking validation. I’m even amenable to them making errors, provided they are making an earnest effort.”

Meanwhile, the McBee sons recently shared with Us Weekly their approach to managing their father’s forthcoming prison sentence.

The McBee Dynasty Sons Address Steve McBee Sr.'s Fraud Sentencing

“Our focus is on maximizing our time with him, prioritizing family moments like shared dinners, and relying on each other for support,” Steve Jr., 32, exclusively informed Us at 2025 BravoCon earlier this month. “I believe the core message of our show, even before my father’s circumstances — and certainly now more than ever — revolves around family. With family, anything is surmountable, absolutely.”

Cole, 24, echoed this sentiment, telling Us that the siblings are endeavoring to “devote as much time as possible” to their father before his departure.

“We will navigate this challenge collectively,” Cole affirmed. “While it presents a difficult juncture in our lives, we are confident we can overcome anything.”
