McBee Family Shares Emotional Holiday Message From Incarcerated Patriarch
The McBee Dynasty’s Steven McBee Jr. became visibly emotional while delivering a holiday update from his father, Steven “Steve” McBee Sr., who is presently incarcerated, serving a two-year sentence for crop insurance deception.
“I spoke with my dad last night. He wanted to ensure that we shared a video wishing everyone a Merry Christmas to you all. Happy holidays. Wishing you a Happy New Year,” Steven, 32, stated in a video posted via Steve's Instagram account on Tuesday, December 30. “He is doing well, managing just fine. In fact, he expressed his gratitude for all the letters he has received.”
Steven added that Steve, 53, intends to respond to “each and every letter” he has received while in prison. He also read a particularly heartwarming letter from an elementary school student named Aria.
“‘In our letter,’ she said, ‘I created this artwork. I drew this card in art class before we relocated to our new home. My teacher transformed it into a card. Isn’t that wonderful?’" Steven recounted, his voice cracking as he continued reading. “I’m sorry you have to be apart from your family. I understand how disheartening it is to begin anew and form new friendships, but persevere. You will be alright, and you can accomplish it.”

The letter also included a note from Aria’s mother, Casey.
“We are aware that it must be difficult being separated from your loved ones and your cherished granddaughters during this time of year,” she wrote. “So we wanted to send you some holiday cheer and wish you a Merry Christmas and a joyful holiday season from two admirers of your family and show.”
Steven continued, “My dad wanted Aria and Casey to know that he’s doing well and making new acquaintances, and to let you know that the Christmas card Aria drew was his absolute favorite, and he has it affixed to his locker door. … So anyway, everyone, thank you all so much. Just wanted to share a quick update on Dad. He’s doing well. And from all of us here at the farm, all of us McBees, Merry Christmas. Happy New Year. Thank you all so very much for all your affection and support. It means the world to us.”

In the caption of the video, Steven once again expressed his thanks for the “tremendous outpouring of letters, affection, and support,” noting that his dad “deeply appreciates them.”
“2024 has been a challenging year. But we’re looking forward to moving forward and toward brighter days ahead. Hope you all have a wonderful Holiday season!” he concluded.
Steven also used his own Instagram account’s comments section to write, “I couldn’t help but get a little misty-eyed reading Aria’s letter.”
Steven McBee Jr. Describes Dad Steve McBee’s Legal Trouble as a ‘Scarlet Letter’
In November 2024, Steve entered a guilty plea to one count of federal crop insurance fraud for engaging in deceptive practices from 2018 to 2020 that resulted in financial losses for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He was sentenced to 24 months in prison in October. Steve was also ordered to serve an additional two years of supervised release and must pay $4,022,124 in restitution, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly.
“The number of messages I have received touches my heart beyond measure that words could express. But the truth of the matter is, I’m the one who’s fortunate,” Steve wrote via his Instagram Stories after his sentencing. “Fortunate to have been able to spend time with so many admirable young people and they were the ones that made me a better human not the other way around. I count my blessings every day for my family and the support they give me and for my extended family that continues to grow each and every day. This too shall pass…”
Steve gained recognition in early 2024 when he and his family made their reality television debut on The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys. The first season followed the former McBee Farm & Cattle CEO and his four sons — Steven, Jesse McBee, Cole McBee, and Brayden McBee — as they managed their farm and cattle company in Gallatin, Missouri.
