Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Honor Late Friend's Son at Charity Tennis Tournament

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, her spouse, recently stepped out for a heartfelt public engagement to stand by close acquaintances.

On Saturday, October 18, Meghan, 44, shared on her Instagram Stories that she was “Proudly supporting the George Zajfen Tennis Tournament,” an event organized by her friend Kelly Zajfen to commemorate her deceased son.

Kelly Zajfen, who is among Meghan’s closest friends, is a mother to twins George and Lily. George sadly passed away in July 2022 when he was nine years old.

Meghan captioned a picture of Harry, 41, embracing Zajfen’s daughter at the sporting gathering with the words, “Our other favorite Lily.” (Meghan and Harry also have two children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4.)

Kelly McKee Zajfen, Meghan Markle’s closest confidante, expressed her deep affection for their decade-and-a-half-long bond.

At another point during the commemorative tournament, Meghan and Harry heard Zajfen deliver remarks, expressing gratitude to those present for their ongoing backing. Social media videos also showed the Duchess of Sussex dabbing her eyes.

Zajfen, who established the Alliance of Moms organization, later posted on Instagram to extend her thanks to Harry and Meghan for their contribution. (The Archewell Foundation, belonging to the royal pair, served as a cosponsor for the event.)

“What a day. The George Zajfen Tennis Tournament was truly exceptional,” Zajfen shared on Instagram that Saturday. “Our amazing community arrived filled with immense love, passion, and enthusiasm for @allianceforchildrensrights, all while honoring our wonderful son. There were moments of sorrow, embrace, and abundant happiness. Prepare for numerous pictures to be shared soon!”

She added, “I am astonished by our collective achievement. Truly impressed. We successfully garnered an unprecedented $200,000 for young people both in Los Angeles and throughout California. Your kindness and assistance persist in transforming existences and ensuring George’s memory continues to radiate brightly. THIS was accomplished by YOU.”

Zajfen concluded her message with a private acknowledgment directed at Harry and Meghan.

“Meg and H, Your dedication to the community, alongside your steadfast loyalty and affection in our friendship, consistently impresses me,” Zajfen stated, employing the duo's casual monikers. “We are immensely thankful that you opted to back The Alliance once more this year. I am perpetually struck by your readiness to be present for others, for this important endeavor, and for our kin. We appreciate you keeping Georgie in your thoughts and assisting us in preserving his legacy.”

A confidante of Meghan Markle described her as an 'exceptionally caring' mother to Archie and Lili.

Meghan and Zajfen share a long-standing friendship, and the founder of the nonprofit even made a brief appearance in the inaugural season of Meghan’s With Love docuseries.

“I feel immense gratitude for having participated in With Love, Megan and even greater appreciation for watching my closest friend radiate such brilliance,” she posted on Instagram in March, commemorating the series' debut on Netflix. “Meghan, you embody pure enchantment and overflowing affection in all your pursuits — whether entertaining, caring, or fostering happiness. It all emanates from you so naturally, so gracefully, not only on screen but continually. This truly constituted one of the most unforgettable and delightful occasions.”

Zajfen finished by saying, “The entire day was extraordinarily amazing and immensely enjoyable. The crew, the staging, the atmosphere, the warmth — you genuinely are the most remarkable host. Everyone experienced it.”

Zajfen participated in a culinary session led by the duchess, accompanied by Abigail Spencer, Meghan’s former colleague from Suits.
