Meghan Markle Shares a Cozy Christmas Day Glimpse with Prince Harry and Their Children
Meghan Markle provided a rare glimpse into her Christmas celebrations with Prince Harry, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, shared details in an email newsletter for her lifestyle brand, As ever, on Thursday, December 25, describing how she would be spending the holidays with Harry, 41, Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4.
“Last night, I was enjoying the remaining portions of our Christmas Eve dinner (dim sum this year), finishing up a few last-minute presents, and quietly walking down the stairs with my husband to ensure ‘Santa’ had enjoyed his cookies and ‘the reindeer’ had eaten their carrots — all to preserve the magic of Christmas morning through our children’s eyes,” she wrote. “I plan to spend today relaxing with my family — perhaps wearing pajamas all day, playing Scrabble or Sequence (or Candyland for the children), listening to music, lighting candles, watching the dogs sleep, snacking continuously; enjoying the laughter, the casual conversations, the moments of quiet reflection (you know the ones), the fun, and creating lasting memories.”
Meghan concluded with best wishes to those who support her venture.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Rare Family Photos With Archie and Lilibet
“I hope that whether you’re comfortably dressed in your pajamas like we are, or elegantly dressed for the occasion, whether you’re celebrating with a large group, with your partner, your children, or by yourself — wherever you happen to be today reading this message — that you know I am sending you a very Merry Christmas, and all the blessings that accompany it,” she continued. “From my family to yours — Happy Holidays!”
Earlier this month, Meghan posted the family’s Christmas card via her social media account, along with the caption, “Happy Holidays! From our family to yours.”
The accompanying photo showed Harry and Meghan — who have been married since May 2018 — standing together outside on a small bridge with their children. Archie wrapped his arms around his dad’s waist as Harry gently touched his son’s face with his hand. Meanwhile, Meghan and Lilibet held hands and pressed their foreheads together. In line with their decision to protect their children’s privacy, neither of the little ones’ faces was visible in the picture.
Harry and Meghan also released a more formal holiday card featuring a photo of the couple holding hands in Canada during the Invictus Games in February.
“On behalf of the office of Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and Archewell, we wish you a very happy holiday season and a joyful new year,” the message read.
Elsewhere this month, Meghan discussed her family’s Christmas traditions in her With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration special on Netflix.
“[It’s about] genuinely trying to embrace and fully immerse yourselves in making each day of that month special as you conclude a year,” she said of her personalized advent calendars for Archie and Lilibet. “But don’t feel pressured to do everything. Simply embrace the special touches that bring you joy.”
Each day of Meghan’s advent calendars for her kids included a treat or a handwritten note from her.
“Ultimately, it’s really about having a surprise and a delight every single day for 24 days leading up to Christmas,” she explained. “They’re not meant to be extravagant gifts. They’re meant to be small gestures.”
Meghan also offered a preview of what’s on the menu for her family for the holiday.
Look Back at the Royal Family’s Christmas Cards Over the Years
“I adore the tradition of a Christmas morning brunch,” she said, revealing that a cinnamon bun shaped like a star serves as the centerpiece of their meal. “I do it every year with my family and I’ve already made a little progress — something sweet, something savory.”
Meghan and her family also enjoy her mother Doria Ragland’s gumbo on Christmas Eve as she explained, “It’s a once-a-year tradition that she makes.”
For a “fun family activity,” Meghan recommended decorating cookies before revealing that it’s “also a very enjoyable, quiet, calm, and peaceful moment” for her in her alone time.
Amid the typically joyful time of year, news emerged earlier this month that Meghan’s estranged father, Thomas Markle, had undergone a left leg amputation below the knee due to a blood clot. Despite their complicated relationship, Meghan successfully delivered a letter to her dad after his health scare, with her spokesperson telling Us Weekly, “With the assistance of reliable and trusted contacts, her correspondence is now safely in his possession.”
