Meghan Markle's Father Thomas Markle Hospitalized in Critical Condition After Urgent Surgery
Meghan Markle’s parent, Thomas Markle, is presently in critical condition following urgent surgical intervention.
Thomas, aged 81, was admitted to a hospital in the Philippines on Tuesday, December 2nd, due to an unspecified ailment necessitating medical care, a detail his son verified to the Daily Mail later that day.
“I brought my father to a nearby hospital where they performed several scans, and physicians indicated his life was in immediate peril,” Thomas Markle Jr. informed the publication on Wednesday, December 3rd. “They urgently transported us via ambulance, with sirens blaring, to a significantly larger medical facility downtown.”
He further stated, “My father has had urgent surgery. I would request that people globally remember him in their prayers.”

As per Thomas Jr., 59, the retired television lighting director now requires a subsequent operation to excise a blood clot.
Thomas’s older daughter, Samantha Markle, has similarly expressed her hopes for a speedy recuperation.
“He is resilient, but he has endured a great deal. I am hoping he possesses the strength to overcome this,” Samantha, 61, conveyed to the Daily Mail. “My father has experienced two cardiac arrests, a cerebral vascular accident, and an earthquake. I trust he can make it through.”
Thomas Jr. and Samantha are Thomas’ offspring from his initial marriage. He also has Meghan, 44, with his former spouse Doria Ragland. The Duchess of Sussex and her mother have not yet publicly commented on Thomas’ current medical emergency.
Meghan has maintained a strained relationship with her father since 2018, following allegations that he orchestrated paparazzi photographs prior to the former Suits actress’s marriage to Prince Harry.
“Harry and I phoned my father. I asked, ‘Reports indicate you’re accepting funds from tabloids for staged pictures. Is this accurate?’ He replied, ‘No,’” Meghan recounted in a 2022 installment of Netflix’s Harry and Meghan. “And during that conversation, I suggested to him, ‘Listen. If this narrative cannot be suppressed, it will surface tomorrow, so why don’t we dispatch someone immediately to your residence to evacuate you, because if that happens, your home will be overrun by the press. We will assist your departure.’”
She further stated then, “He responded, ‘No. I have matters to attend to.’ And it struck me as very evasive. I thought, ‘I’m unsure why, but I don’t trust his words.’”
Thomas subsequently asserted that he experienced a cardiac event and chose not to be present at Meghan and Harry’s royal nuptials.

Harry, 41, additionally disclosed in the documentary series that he experienced “profound sorrow” over the breakdown of Meghan and Thomas’s bond.
“She possessed a paternal figure before this situation,” the Duke of Sussex remarked in Harry & Meghan. “Currently, she lacks a father. I bore that burden. For if Meg hadn't been alongside me, her father would remain her father,” Harry clarified. “It's astonishing what individuals are willing to do when presented with substantial sums of money. Fifty thousand, a hundred thousand, to relinquish pictures, to fabricate a narrative. And thankfully, most declined.”
Harry and Meghan relocated to California in 2020, following their resignation from roles as senior working royals, and now reside there with their children Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4.
