Meghan McCain and Ben Domenech Welcome Third Child, a Son, Expanding Their Family
Meghan McCain and Ben Domenech have maintained a strong relationship for nearly two decades.
Although the exact timing of their initial meeting remains unclear, the couple began dating around 2014 and became engaged in July 2017.
“We’ve been together for several years and have been engaged for quite some time,” McCain mentioned on The View at the time. “It was a secret. I had hoped to get married and for people to be unaware, but people often talk. I deeply love him and I’m very happy.”
The pair exchanged vows in November 2017. Following a miscarriage in 2019, McCain welcomed her and Domenech’s first child, daughter Liberty, in September 2020 followed by daughter Clover in January 2023.

2014
The couple reportedly commenced dating around 2014.
“When we went out for the first time, I felt like, ‘This is a completely different feeling and it’s much better,’” McCain shared on The Ben Shapiro Show in October 2019. “I advise women, ‘Conservative men possess better family values and they approach dating, family, and marriage with greater seriousness.’ I believe that if you’re serious — which I was when I met my husband — about getting married and starting a family and desiring to move forward, I simply found … finally dating a conservative man was the key. He took it seriously.”

“Meghan and her fiancé are well into wedding preparations,” the insider revealed.
Later that month, Meghan explained on The View that the couple had been “together for years” and were inspired by her father Senator John McCain’s health challenges. (The late senator passed away in August 2018 from glioblastoma.)
“Everyone keeps asking me, ‘How did you get engaged?’ And I’m like, ‘Well, we were at Mayo Clinic and my father had his scan,’” she shared at the time. “And we got engaged because we decided to sort of celebrate life and celebrate being alive and all these things. It’s not the most romantic story, but he is my partner.”
Meghan also noted that she was surprised to be wearing a ring because she “never imagined” she would get married.
“I want the single women out there to know, I don’t consider this an accomplishment, and it’s just part of my life,” she said. “Wait for the men who appreciate strong women. Don’t settle for less. Don’t settle for anything else.”
November 2017
Approximately four months after announcing their engagement, Meghan and Domenech tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at the McCain family lodge in Sedona, Arizona.

Meghan revealed that she had experienced a miscarriage in an essay published in The New York Times.
“I look back at those pictures now, and I see a woman concealing her shock and sorrow,” she wrote in reference to the photos that were taken the day she found out she miscarried. “I am posed for the camera, appearing stern and strong, representing my fellow conservative women across the country. But inside, I am suffering. Inside, my baby is suffering. I knew I was pregnant before I formally knew I was pregnant. My body signaled it in all the ways women are familiar with. It signaled it in the same ways I was losing the baby.”
After she publicly shared her loss, Meghan thanked everyone for their “beautiful and kind responses” to her essay.
“Ben and I are the luckiest, most incredibly blessed people in the world surrounded by love and support,” she wrote via Instagram.

April 2020
At the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, Meghan took to social media to share a heartfelt message for her husband while they were confined to quarantine.
“If somebody had told me the first night we met when we did nothing but laugh and drink whiskey neat until the sun came up that one day you would be caring for me, keeping me calm, cooking my every craving, rubbing my back, making me turn off cable news when I start to cry because of the intense pain and suffering our country is in, play scrabble and Mario Kart with me anytime I want and doing anything and everything to make this upside down nightmare a comfortable haven while I was pregnant with your baby and quarantined during the apocalypse … I would have thought one of you were consuming something really powerful,” she wrote alongside a selfie of the pair via Instagram.
Meghan continued by noting that “life keeps throwing” them “curveballs,” but they both knew when they met “there was no one else for either of [them] in the world.”
“It was like God finally formally introduced us but we had already known who we were waiting for,” she explained. “Our love has always been easy and wild. I love you and couldn’t have created you in my mind, Ben. There’s no one I would rather be in a foxhole with. But the universe sure does have a fed up sense of humor.”
