“I simply found myself completely captivated by her,” Pete expressed warmly to ESPN in 2020. “For me, this was unequivocally the one.”

Pete and Haley's initial meeting occurred five years prior during a college summer recess, as he attended a baseball training camp in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Haley, who was enrolled at Michigan State University at that time, was also visiting the island.
