Michelle Williams and Thomas Kail Atypical Romance Flourishes
The romance between Michelle Williams and Thomas Kail began in an atypical fashion — yet the pair continues to thrive.
Their connection first formed as they collaborated on the FX series Fosse/Verdon. At the time of production, Williams was wed to musician Phil Elverum, a marriage that concluded in April 2019. Kail, meanwhile, was also married, to Broadway actress Angela Christian. Nevertheless, a clear chemistry developed between the former Dawson's Creek star and Kail during their time on set.
In December 2019, Us Weekly verified that the couple was engaged — and that Williams was expecting their first shared child. Williams had previously become a mother to daughter Matilda in October 2005 with her late partner Heath Ledger, separating from him in 2007. Ledger tragically passed away from an accidental overdose the subsequent year.
A source shared with Us in January 2020 that Williams and the director of In the Heights were "extremely joyful and eager to welcome a child into the world," also noting that the two "desired to be wed" prior to the baby's arrival. They exchanged vows later that same year and celebrated the birth of their first child together in June 2020.
