Mike "The Situation" Celebrates a Decade of Sobriety and New Addiction Treatment Centers

Sorrentino">Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is marking a significant achievement: a decade of sobriety.

“Ten years ago, I made a pivotal decision that transformed everything. A decision to cease avoiding problems, stop using substances to numb the pain, and finally confront my life directly,” the Jersey Shore star, 43, shared via the Instagram page for his recovery organization, The Archangel Centers, on Wednesday, December 24. “It wasn’t straightforward. There were moments I questioned myself, moments I felt irreparably damaged. But one day at a time, I prioritized recovery, and those days accumulated.”

Sorrentino indicated that choosing sobriety restored his “life” to him.

“It provided me with clarity, purpose, faith, family, and a mission that extends beyond my own needs,” he continued. “It gave me the capacity to transform my most difficult experiences into a source of encouragement for others who are still battling.”

Now that Sorrentino is on a positive trajectory, he expressed his appreciation for everyone who remained supportive during those challenging times.

“Today, I celebrate this milestone with gratitude, for my support network, my wife and family, my team, and everyone who believed in me when I doubted myself,” he said. “And I celebrate it by continuing this work, founding The Archangel Centers, and helping others recognize that recovery is attainable and worth striving for.”

Sorrentino added that if anyone is feeling discouraged about making changes, he hopes his story will inspire them.

“If you’re reading this and wondering if transformation is possible for you, allow me to be living evidence that it is,” he shared. “One day. One choice. One step at a time. The return is truly more impressive than the difficulty. ”

Sorrentino gained prominence as a key cast member on Jersey Shore. While filming the MTV series, Sorrentino struggled with substance abuse, which he has since been open about.

“I had a compulsive personality and everything I did was all or nothing,” the reality star exclusively told Us Weekly in November 2023. “Once you’re caught in a cycle of excess, whether it’s drugs, relationships, money, or success, many people don’t manage to escape.”

Sorrentino also previously served eight months in federal prison for tax evasion after failing to remit $8.9 million in taxes. He was released in 2019.

Last year, Sorrentino announced that he was launching his own mental health and addiction recovery centers called The Archangel Centers. The initial facility opened in New Jersey earlier this year.

“If you had told me 10 years ago that the U.S. government would send me to prison, revoke my passport and voting rights, and impose millions in penalties, I would have thought it was the end,” he wrote via Instagram in September 2024. “But here I am — living proof that the comeback is always greater than the setback.”

Sorrentino continued, “Against all expectations, I turned my life around,” his statement continued. “Today, I’m happily married with three wonderful children, a published author, nine years sober, and about to launch my own treatment centers: @thearchangelcenters. What once seemed unattainable is now my reality.”
