Miley Cyrus Shares Positive Update on Dolly Parton's Recovery and Return to Work
Miley Cyrus offered a status report to supporters regarding her godmother, Dolly Parton, following the country music icon's recent medical issues.
“She is committed to ensuring the show continues, a true 'show must go on' mentality, and is eager to return to her professional obligations,” Cyrus, 33, shared with Entertainment Tonight during her attendance at the Los Angeles premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash last week.
Last September, the renowned country artist revealed she had to postpone her Las Vegas performances for close to twelve months on account of her physical condition.
Parton, 79, issued a written statement through Instagram at that time, explaining, “I feel it is important for fans and the general public to hear directly from me that I must, regrettably, reschedule my forthcoming Las Vegas concerts.”
“As some of you are aware, I have been experiencing certain health problems, and medical professionals have advised me to undergo several procedures. I jokingly mentioned to them that it must be time for my 100,000-mile service, even though it's not the customary visit to my cosmetic surgeon!”

She went on to say, “In all seriousness, considering these circumstances, I won't be able to rehearse or prepare the type of performance I wish to deliver, and the show you all deserve. You invest significant money to watch me perform, and I want to ensure I am performing at my highest level for you.”
Several days later, Parton’s sibling, Freida Parton, caused anxiety among admirers when she requested prayers for Dolly from those who care about her.
“I spent the entire night praying for my sister, Dolly,” Freida posted on Facebook on October 7. “A lot of you are aware that she hasn’t been feeling entirely well recently. I am a strong believer in the effectiveness of prayer, and I felt compelled to ask everyone who admires her to become prayer warriors and join me in prayer.”
She added at that point, “She possesses great strength, she is deeply cherished, and with all the prayers being offered for her, I truly believe she will be perfectly fine. Godspeed, my precious Dolly. We hold a deep affection for you.”
Following her anxiety-inducing message, Freida returned to social media to provide clarification and reassure supporters that her sister was doing well.
Freida wrote on Instagram, saying, “I need to make something clear. My intention was not to frighten anyone or imply such a serious situation when requesting prayers for Dolly. She has just been feeling slightly unwell, and I merely requested prayers because of my powerful conviction in their effectiveness. It was simply a younger sister appealing for prayers for her older sister. Thank you for your support. Your affection genuinely changes things.”
The following day, the singer’s representative likewise endeavored to guarantee fans that she was in good condition.
Olly Rowland, Dolly’s manager, informed the Las Vegas Review-Journal, “The situation involves kidney stones and the necessary procedure to eliminate them. It appears her sister's post was somewhat exaggerated, strangely enough.”
Us Weekly contacted Dolly’s publicist then for additional statements.

She added, “But before proceeding, I wanted to mention that I am aware many people think I am in worse health than I truly am. Do I appear ill to you? I am actively working here. Regardless, I intended to ease the concerns of everyone who seemed genuinely worried, which I value. I also appreciate your prayers because I am a devout individual. I can always benefit from prayers for all circumstances. However, I want you all to understand that I am fine.”
