Millie Bobby Brown Files Bullying Grievance Against David Harbour Ahead of Stranger Things Final Season
Millie Bobby Brown lodged a formal grievance regarding her Stranger Things castmate David Harbour prior to the commencement of shooting for the fifth and ultimate season of the Netflix show.
The 21-year-old Brown “submitted a harassment and bullying accusation ahead of commencing production on the final season,” an insider informed the Daily Mail, on Saturday, November 1, further revealing that “numerous pages of allegations were made” and that the ensuing inquiry “extended for several months.”
The publication stated that Brown (who portrays Eleven in the series) alleged that Harbour (known for his role as Eleven’s adoptive father, Jim Hopper) engaged in bullying and harassment towards her during production. The Enola Holmes star’s accusations against Harbour, 50, were reportedly devoid of any claims involving sexual impropriety. A representative was present for her on the set of season 5, which concluded filming in December 2024.
Neither Brown, Harbour, nor Netflix has publicly commented on these allegations. Us Weekly contacted the representatives for all three parties seeking a statement.
Which 'Stranger Things' Cast Members Are — And Aren't — Coming Back for the Last Season?
Brown and Harbour have shared the screen in Netflix’s Stranger Things since its debut season in 2016. The much-anticipated concluding season of Stranger Things is set to premiere on November 26.
“They are all quite decent young people. Perhaps it’s my sobriety, I'm sure everyone has their habits, but it appears that today's youth aren't as prone to substance abuse as those of my era,” Harbour shared with Esquire UK in a November feature, elaborating on his connections with his younger fellow actors. “For me, a crucial anchor in this industry has always been the artistic integrity of one's work.”
He proceeded, “Certain aspects are simply beyond your influence — such as box office success, or public approval. These factors are entirely out of your hands. However, what you can govern is your specific dedication to narrative, to art, to your message, your distinctive voice.”
Harbour additionally commented on the unique challenge of performers achieving broad recognition early in life. (Harbour was 41 when Stranger Things first aired, whereas talents such as Brown were merely adolescents.)

“I believe the issue with early stardom is its immense allure, you understand? It's truly thrilling to have others consider you a prodigy, but one doesn't truly wish to be a prodigy at 11 years old,” he commented. “Such a path isn't sustainable for a lifetime. I would genuinely enjoy witnessing Gaten [Matarazzo] embody King Lear in his seventies. I aspire for them to have such careers, and it's my personal wish for them to fully develop their artistic abilities and their talents to their utmost capacity.”
Harbour mentioned that he “becomes quite concerned” about the prospects of his fellow actors, akin to a parental figure.
“As all parents understand, it's a futile endeavor and yields no results. You merely provide what assistance you can, then observe, and remain present for them should they require you,” Harbour stated. “That’s where I ascertained my role concerning them. I am consistently available to assist them, yet they are navigating their individual journeys. It’s an unpredictable journey, but they all appear to be thriving.”
Regarding Brown, she has openly discussed her experiences growing up on the set of Stranger Things.
“I infused Eleven with what I was discovering as a child, or my personal experiences, into her character,” Brown explained to Vanity Fair in February regarding her approach to acting. “Eleven’s sense of self was a significant element we were grappling with. Would she opt for feminine attire or don the shirts of her adoptive father, Hopper? Or would she embrace the identity her friends encouraged? During that period of my life, I was uncertain about my desired appearance, whether I favored more feminine styles, more masculine ones, more gender-neutral, or more grunge aesthetics. I incorporated that very confusion.”
