Miss Universe Co-Owner Arrested Over Fraud Allegations Amidst Pageant Turmoil
An arrest warrant has been issued for Jakapong “Anne” Jakrajutatip, a part-owner of the Miss Universe Organization, due to her non-appearance at a scheduled hearing concerning a fraud investigation.
Reports indicate that the Bangkok South Civil Court issued the warrant subsequent to the 46-year-old Jakrajutatip's failure to attend court proceedings on Tuesday, November 25. Authorities reportedly considered her a potential flight risk.
As reported by The Independent, the fraud allegations against Jakrajutatip involve her purportedly concealing details from a plastic surgeon who provided capital to her enterprise. French 24 further detailed claims from a plastic surgeon alleging Jakrajutatip encouraged his investment in her firm.
The same publication cited a statement from the Agence France-Presse (AFP) presented in court. It stated, “The accused solicited investment from (the plaintiff) despite being aware of her incapacity to repay the funds by the agreed deadline.”
Miss Universe Judge Resigns From Competition Citing 'Absence of Transparency' in Ballot Process
Reports indicate that Jakrajutatip faced fraud charges but was freed upon posting bail. The legal action is pursuing a sum of $930,000. The arrest order was issued subsequent to her not appearing in court for the judgment. The next court date has been postponed to December 26.
Jakkaphong stepped down from her positions within the Miss Universe Organization in June, following allegations by Thai authorities regarding specific financial declarations she provided.
According to reports, the Miss Universe Organization had previously commented on the fraud case, stating, “these legal actions are wholly distinct.”
During Miss Universe 2025, Miss Mexico Fatima Bosch was crowned the victor. The competition, hosted in Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday, November 20, was fraught with contention.
On November 4, a number of participants exited a gathering organized by pageant chief Nawat Itsaragrisil. During this session, Itsaragrisil publicly criticized Bosch for declining to participate in a promotional photoshoot for Thailand. “Exercise caution. You are in Thailand. This is a competition,” he was overheard admonishing the contestants.
Bosch attempted to articulate her defense, but Itsaragrisil intervened to silence her. He was heard referring to her as a “fool.” He summoned security to escort her out, but fellow contestants rose and departed alongside her in solidarity.
The organization issued a statement just hours following the occurrence.
“A senior delegation, spearheaded by Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mario Búcaro, is making its way to Thailand to enhance cooperation with the host nation, [the Miss Grand International Organization (MGI)], and pertinent officials,” the organization declared. “The purpose of this endeavor is to align initiatives, guarantee a safe and professional setting for every delegate, and underscore MUO’s dedication to openness, deference, and solidarity.”

The pageant further stated, “The Miss Universe Organization maintains its unwavering commitment to fostering teamwork, esteem, and prospects for women globally, collaborating closely with all associates to guarantee a secure, motivating, and unforgettable journey for each participant.”
Itsaragrisil was removed from this year’s competition subsequent to the event.
On November 5, Itsaragrisil conducted a press conference to express regret for his behavior. “I am only human. I had no intention of acting in such a manner,” USA Today quoted him saying.
President of the Miss Universe Organization, Raúl Rocha, commented on the circumstances, affirming, “I will not permit the principles of reverence and honor for women to be compromised.”
Following her victory, Bosch posted on Instagram, “Today I was reminded that what is meant for you by divine will, cannot be halted by jealousy, thwarted by fate, nor altered by chance.”
