Missouri Man Allegedly Broke Into Ex-Partner's Home and Climbed Into Her Bed Before Assaulting Her
A Missouri resident identified as Christopher Brayton was recently taken into custody after authorities reported he broke into a home he previously shared with his former partner, then allegedly climbed into her bed before assaulting her.Brayton, 31, faces charges of domestic assault related to two separate domestic violence incidents that took place on different days in October, according to court documents reviewed by Law & Crime News.
Based on a probable cause statement, he appeared in court on Monday, December 8, regarding the October incidents.“The victim reported she was sleeping in her bed on the morning of 10/16/2025, when at approximately 8 a.m., she felt someone touch her and state, ‘I’m home,'” the statement read. “The victim observed Christopher lying next to her.”According to police, Brayton's ex-girlfriend obtained a protective order against him and forced him to move out of their home following their breakup. The same day, he allegedly returned to the residence and hid her cellphone to prevent her from calling 911, according to the probable cause statement.Zachery Ty Bryan and Then-Pregnant Fiancee Had Dispute Months Before ArrestThe document further added that he “would not allow her to leave the bedroom for hours.”The woman eventually succeeded in escaping the bedroom. However, Brayton caught up to her and began attacking her.“[Brayton] followed her and placed his feet in front of her and pushed her, causing her to fall to the ground,” the probable cause statement said. “[The woman] stated she got back up, at which time Christopher grabbed her under her armpits and lifted her up and threw her to the ground. … Christopher then got on top of her while she was on her back and held one of her hands behind her back and placed his other hand around the front of her neck, causing her to not be able to breathe.”The report claims that Brayton threatened “to kill” the woman. She eventually managed to locate her phone and contact 911, and Brayton was taken into custody by police upon their arrival. In addition to this recent incident, Brayton has another pending case in court after he was charged with domestic assault following alleged incidents that took place on June 17 and July 3.Police stated that the victim in the October attacks was the same person he allegedly assaulted during the June and July incidents. According to the case's probable cause statement, during the alleged June assault, he awoke “in a manic mood” and began arguing with her.“Christopher grabbed her by the hair and punched her in the face with a closed fist four times before throwing her into a closet,” the statement said. “[Brayton] claimed the victim refused to let him take his bipolar medication and repeatedly got in his face causing him to push her off him.”Zachery Ty Bryan’s Ups and Downs Through the Years: Legal Issues and MoreJefferson County prosecutors filed a request on November 9 to deny Brayton bond, writing, “The victim of all of the domestic assaults is the same person.”However, Brayton has since been released on bond. He is currently waiting to appear in court for both cases, which are scheduled to take place on January 5.
