NBA Star's Ex Claims Home Burglarized, Points Fingers at Former Partner

NBA Star's Ex Claims Home Burglarized, Points Fingers at Former Partner

Christian Wood’s former partner, Yasmine Lopez, informed authorities that her residence was burglarized while she was out of town — just weeks prior to the ex-Los Angeles Laker experiencing an attempted home invasion, Us Weekly can exclusively reveal. Wood strongly denied any involvement in the incident. Lopez’s statements came shortly after Wood accused her of potentially being connected to an attempt on his life.

The social media influencer told Us that her Los Angeles home was robbed on August 5, 2025, while she was traveling.

She explained to Us, “I had departed my home earlier that day, and while I was in transit, my house was being broken into. Christian was fully aware that I would be traveling and knew that I wouldn’t be present at that time.” Lopez, 30, claimed Wood texted her “approximately ten minutes after the burglary took place, inquiring if I wanted my handbags returned.” (Wood and Lopez began dating in August 2022 and ended their relationship in December 2022. They share a son named Kobe Sean Wood.)

“At that point, I hadn’t told him that my home had been burglarized, and there was no reason for him to know that anything had happened.” Lopez asserted. “This was deeply unsettling and raised serious concerns for me.”

Lopez told Us, “During the burglary, the only items taken were handbags and a watch that Christian had purchased for me. I possess a significant collection of designer bags, jewelry, and other valuables in my home worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, yet none of those items were stolen.”

She stated, “The fact that only items linked to Christian were taken doesn’t resemble a random burglary and prompted further questions for me.”

The influencer said the incident left her “extremely shaken and fearful” for herself and her children.

(Wood’s legal representative tells Us regarding Lopez’s claims, “Ms. Lopez’s assertions are based on personal speculation and assumptions rather than any factual evidence whatsoever. Mr. Wood urges her to utilize the proper channels, including law enforcement, to ensure that any claims of an attempted burglary are addressed appropriately. Any suggestion of his involvement is absolutely denied, taken seriously, and he will pursue all necessary steps to protect his reputation.)

“Knowing that someone entered my home while I was away, at a time when my whereabouts were known to Christian, made me question my safety entirely,” Lopez said. “It triggered ongoing anxiety and fear, and for a considerable period afterward, I didn’t feel secure in my own home.”

“Consequently, I implemented additional security measures to safeguard myself and my children,” she told Us.

Lopez also firmly denied Wood’s allegations that she had anything to do with the attempted break-in that occurred at his home on November 5.

“To now see a narrative suggesting that I had any involvement in a burglary at Christian’s home is completely false, hurtful, and vindictive,” she said. “I had absolutely no involvement in that incident whatsoever. This accusation is untrue and has caused significant emotional distress, compromised my sense of safety, and impacted my life and my children in ways that are difficult to articulate.”

As Us first reported, Wood secured a temporary restraining order against Lopez on November 20 after informing the court that he believed Lopez might have played a role in an attempt on his life.

He said three men appeared at his home and attempted to force their way in. Wood claimed they departed when he brandished a firearm and discharged it toward the floor. Wood asserted that Lopez had been behaving strangely regarding him seeing their son that week and posted an unusual message on social media one hour before the shooting.

In response, Lopez obtained her own temporary restraining order against the former Laker on December 13. She accused Wood of striking and slapping her from behind, as well as calling her a “bitch” in front of their son, during a custody exchange due to him being upset about her having a new romantic partner.

In her petition, Lopez also claimed Wood became physical with her during an incident on May 8, 2024.

“He grasped my left leg. This action caused me extreme fear that I would fall and injure myself and Kobe,” she alleged. “[Wood] then physically grabbed and pushed me into the guest room. He immediately stood by the door and prevented me from leaving by holding the handle.”

Lopez alleged that Wood threatened that if she left with Kobe, “he would kill me and I would never see the child again.”

In addition, Lopez detailed an alleged 2024 Valentine’s Day incident where the former NBA star spat on her and choked her. She said the assault occurred in Utah after he referred to her as a “cheating bitch.”

“His hands were so tight around my neck that I genuinely believed he was going to kill me,” Lopez. “Shortly after, he stopped and got off the bed.”

Lopez requested a restraining order against Wood and sole legal and physical custody of their son. The court granted her a restraining order.

She addressed the break-in at his home writing, “Police subsequently discovered Christian in possession of an illegal ghost gun. Prior to this incident, I was unaware that he owned or had access to any unregistered firearm.”

She claimed she had been concerned about the individuals socializing at Wood’s home. “He frequently had visitors late at night, and there were rumors and indications that firearms were present inside the home,” she wrote. “As a mother, these circumstances deeply worried me. I never restricted Christian’s access to our son, but I acted cautiously for Kobe’s safety.”

“The truth is I had no knowledge of what transpired in Christian’s house that night. I did not communicate with anyone involved,” she said. “I have never encouraged, instructed, or supported anyone seeking to harm [Wood]. I do not know the men he has referenced. I had absolutely no involvement in the incident.”
